If this were a degaussing issue then I would expect to see red, green, and blue but with distortion. That isn't what you're reporting. As has been suggested already, you likely have a component area (like vertical or horizontal sweep) that is malfunctioning because of a failure. The failure could be system voltage oriented or a component board or combination of both. Here is the bottom line, how much are you willing to spend to fix an older TV? If you aren't willing to spend a few hundred dollars then consider why a repairman would want to work for less? By the time a technician puts the set on his bench, opens it, and does preliminary system check you've got an hour invested. If a system power voltage failure caused other components to fail then the problem along with cost to repair quickly escalates.
There should be a default code, that overrides the set code, and using it you can reset it by an other code. Refer its user manual to get this override code. Electro helpGopakumar Gopalan Google
Sharp, Fisher & Sanyo will have same configuration to circuit. So, the service menu entry method to these sets will also be the same. If you wish to get more details, check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
This could be several things, but most likely a burned loose resistor or bad solder joint.
All of which causes an inoperative power supply with the result of having a "dead" set.
It would have to be checked out to find the problem.
