Westinghouse LTV-32w1 32 in. HD-Ready LCD Television Logo
Posted on Jan 28, 2010

Having hdmi trouble and attempting to reset my tv following the advice i found here and elsewhere. however i have not been able to reset to the w symbol either by the power button method or the on screen menu. after disconnecting the power for awhile then plugging back in, the tv turns on without touching the power button. turning off then holding the power button in does nothing until i release the button. the tv turns on normally, but has not reset to factory settings. the menu reset feature will not allow me to choose the yes option to reset, it reverts to no as soon as i press enter. everything else about the tv works fine, just the hdmi port and reset function. westinghouse ltv27-w7 hd

You might try updating the firmware if you can, via a USB drive and downloading it from Westinghouse. It does have risks, and is irreversible. Some people have complained about using wrong version for Westinghouse download, but may have been due to there sometimes being different versions of the same model product with different hardware. Some have complained about different issues arising after updating. Do some research online about you specific product and good luck.

Why can we not get our playstation or a digital adapter to hook up to this tv? do we have to do something special?

A basic HDMI Cable is your Solution.

Plug it into the TV via the HDMI cable and then put the TV on the proper channel by pressing the "Input" or "Source" Button" on your remote until you get to the one your HDMI cable is plugged into(it's labeled on the tv at the input as "HDMI 1" or "HDMI 2" Etc.

You may need to do a reset on your PS System to reset the Display Settings- I've had the same issue as you're having before and you simply reset the PlayStation by holding down the power button until you hear it beep and turn off, keep holding it until it turns on and off again. Now when it is turned back on you should see a message on your screen saying "HDMI Cable Detected" & just follow the instructions on your tv screen!

I have a sony bravia 40 inch hd tv. i also have a comcast hd box that always worked on the tv through the hdmi. One day i was having trouble with cable box so i unpluged it to reset it. now my tv will...

Your PS3 working doesn't mean a thing for the cable unless you are using that cable for your PS3. I would bet you have a bad HDMI. They are pretty sensitive to being bent. Try replacing that first. The other thing to check is to first make sure you have the proper input selected on the TV for where you have the HDMI plugged into on your TV.

This is no help whatsoever but I found your question following a search after having EXACTLY the same problem. Do you get 'no support' on-screen? I have a horrible feeling I might having broken the socket moving my desktop around :-( I'm wondering if there's an engineers code or something you can input to reset the tv? Tried different cables and peripherals with exactly the same results as you said - no joy. I'll let you know if I find any solutions..

No audio on Sony Wega Tv. Mute is ok. Volume bar goes up and down . No sound at all

Hello, Welcome to Fixya.com

If the mute is ok, you want to check if your have a cable or sat box that the mute on those are ok as well, if so then your looking at a internal issue with the TV that would involve repair.

Try this

1. unplug the tv wait 10-15 seconds then plug it back into the wall outlet.

Also

2. unplug any cable boxes or sat boxes that might be causing the issue.

If you still are having issues you might want to check it into a local repair shop near you, but take this advice for what its worth you might wind up paying more for the repair then the purchase of a nice flat panel.

Make sure if you do take it into a shop that there registered with the BBB and do not have complaints registered as those shops could end you paying more money.

Thanks for making Fixya your first choice, We can Fix most things but have solutions for everything.

I am trying to hook up my HDMI cables on my Playstation. I follow the instructions outlined in the manual and in the actual Playstation ( I have been attempting this manually while using A/V cables)....

Ok, please connect your PS3 up using the HDMI cable, don't worry about having no display yet.

Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, then beep again 5 seconds later. Let go of the power button when you hear this second beep.

Wait for the PS3 display settings to be reset back to standard definition. The PS3 should now properly detect your HDMI connection and ask you if you want to switch to the maximum resolution possible from your TV.

Hope this helps

I bought a Westinghouse 26" Widescreen LCD tv less than a year ago and we are having troubles with the HDMI 1 channel. My son has his XBox 360 hooked up through this channel and it will randomly go blank...

I would recommend to call the Westinghouse customer service since you are at least close to the year warranty, their number is 1800-701-0680, other than that the only thing you can do is to do a factory reset by going in to the menu, go under the settings tab, and it will be the last option.

Screen has lines vertical and spaced evenly reset still there. looks like bad video card. system works just lines all the way throw it. its all the time, games movies, home screen. did a reset, same thing,...

Do you have any other HD devices to cross-check with? If it's occuring with all HD devices then it could be the TV itself having trouble. It could also be the HDMI cable; do you have an extras you can try?

Have you attempted to reconfigure the PS3's video settings? Try a number of different combinations and see if any of them result in a cleaner screen. Hopefully it is the connections and neither the PS3 or the TV. Also, find your TV's make and model and attempt a search to see if any one else is having issues with that particular TV.
