I got the same problem, however it would only work on the dvd player that recorded it, if i used it on my other lp player or even the computer, it wont read the disc.

I has to do with the way data is written to the disc, does it finalize it so others players cant read it? Its pretty stupid i think. Oh and it doesnt matter what dvd disc i use, being RW or not.

Try lowering the speed of the burn process.
Hope this helps.

It would be nothing to do with the TV.

DVD RW discs only last for so long if you have re-written to them many times they may be just worn out. Or is it with all RW discs?

Are you trying to watch them on the same player you recorded them on or is it a different DVD Player you are trying to watch them on?

RCA 8295n dvd-vcr combo starts recording from VHS tape to disk and then stops.

Is the VHS tape a store bought movie or show?

MacroVision and other copy protection systems are put into store bought tapes and discs of movies and shows, and are read by your recording equipment. Once it reads this, it stops recording.

Does the screen turn red before it stops? This is one of the indications that MacroVision is stopping you.
