If the drum is used up you open the front door and press menu or options and tell it it's a new drum, otherwise you clean the metal contacts on the sides of the drum and inside the printer, and run the blue tab back and forth about 20 times. If still drum error you may have a bad power supply.
Try this, at least works for me all the times until drum is gone. Disconnect printer, take to a place where dust won't be a problem. Remove drum unit, remove toner unit. Remove paper tray. Spray compressed air in all parts of the drum (all parts. Very important). Do the same with toner unit. Do the same inside printer. Be sure everything inside is cleaned. Note the dust is toxic, wear mask. Put all together, reset display message (open front door, go to options, follow questions. You "replaced drum").
If there is life left on drum it will work. If not, install new drum (but clean machine first).
Can you please upload pictures of the printer and the drum because im having the same problem and i already bought a new drum but it still says drum error
SOURCE: drum error
With that error you need to remove the drum, run the little blue tab on top back and forth about 20 times, blow out the area below the blue tab, and re install and try printing again. If the error is drum life end you need to open the front door and press either menu or options, sometimes the clear/back button and tell it it's a new drum.
Open the front cover
press Clear/Back
Replace New Drum - select "Yes"
after the screen will show "accepted"
close the front cover and you are good to go
and WA LA it worked!!
