I have a Mac Book. Recently installed an all-in-one epson sx515w. Whenever I try to print, a popup window says ''remaining ink level. Then, I get the message ''printer currently off line'' Can anyone please, please suggest or now of a fix for this problem?

What OS are you running? Did you install the full Epson software before you connected the printer to the computer? Is the Epson Status Monitor running on the computer?

If you didn't install the full software or installed a generic Windows driver, uninstall the printer. Then disconnect the data cable. If you have a Windows OS, if the Epson Status Monitor is running, the icon for it should be present in the lower right hand corner of the screen (status/Notification area). In Windows 7, it may not be immediately visible, click on the double arrow symbol. Then double-click on the Epson Status Monitor icon and the status window should appear with the ink level indicators in the bottom half of the window.

For a Mac OS, open the Applications folder, then select Epson Printer Utility. Select your printer and click OK. Then select the Epson Status Monitor to get the ink level window.

Have you installed Epson easyprint package included in CD ?

If you haven't, kindly follow this link and select Epson easy print (v3.10) for latest package.

Just install and whenever you send a document to print, you will be able to view ink levels.

Had the same problem. I put some white spirit in a syringe and placed the syringe nozzle over the ink nozzel and squerted it in to unblock the system. Inserted a new cartridge. It now works again for me, so far so good ??

In my case I had the SX515W configured via USB with other computer with Win XP, and later working by WiFi.
With may new laptop with Win 7, I have the error with the NetSetup installation CD.
First I checked that it was possible to print via USB with the laptop, and after I added by wifi using the "add new printer wizard" as explain Quagmire69 in the link attached.

in vista as with windows 7 you must tell the computer to connect to your printer in network preferences. It wont work untill it is told to connect!

You have to have both the cartridge installed and then
Run a nozzle check to make sure the nozzles are clean. Try running a printer self-test to make sure the printer is running properly without using the computer.


Macintosh 9.x or earlier: Open the File menu and choose Print. Click the Ink icon. You'll see a window showing the ink remaining in each cartridge.

Macintosh OS X: Double-click the Applications folder on your hard drive. Double-click EPSON Printer Utility, select the C42 Series printer in the Printer List window and click OK. Then click the EPSON StatusMonitor button. You'll see a window showing the ink remaining in each cartridge

Sounds as if you have either Linux or a Mac computer. There are ink level monitors for these operating systems, However there can be problems installing them.

On Windows the ink level monitor should pop up when printing. It is part of the printer utilities. Open printer properties and set the options desired.

When the printer stops printing, press the ink button and remove the indicated cartridge and replace. If more than one remove and shake next to your ear, replace the empty cartridges only. A tiny amount of ink remains in the cartridge when empty. This amount is so small it has a distinct sound signature compared to a part used cartridge.
