After a number of years of use, these Sony's tend to develop many bad solder connections. They can be anywhere on any of the several circuit boards within. You'll need to take it to a shop. If you want to download the service and users manuals go here:
http://www.manualslib.com/download/162899/Sony-Str-De245-De345.html
If your not a tech, they probably won't help you.

My sony STR-DE345 amp says "protect" and there is

The manual says it thinks there is a short circuit on the amplifier output side. If it still says Protect after disconnncting all the speakers wires there is an internal problem. Take it to a hands-on tech.

If the problem disappears, you had a short. Attach speakers one at a time to isolate the cause.

Is there an internal battery on the STR-DE345 Sony receiver for the pre-sets? Can it be replaced if there is. Receiver no longer holds pre-sets when there is a power outage.

There is no battery to replace to hold preset channels. The preset channels are held by a charged capacitor to maintain the nominal voltage level to the PLL (phase lock loop) tuner. The capacitor can only hold the charge for a few hours, and then it will slowly discharge - for like a short power outage.

Fuse keeps poping, what other type of fuse can i buy for this, my model is STR-DE435 (sony)

If it keeps blowing the rated fuse you really need to take it in to a shop for further analysis. Using an incorrect, higher value fuse will only raise the risk of fire or more damage to whatever is blown in the unit.

Loud buzzing at the first volume setting

Check all your wires and make sure that none of the wires that are powering any equipment (including extension cords, power bars, and power cables on the unit itself) are running parallel to any of the audio cables going to your speakers or from your inputs to your unit. This could be what's called AC hum, which is caused when the electrical current causes interference that gets picked up by the audio cables and amplified by your system. Just make sure you move the power cords as far away as possible from the audio cables.

SONY STR-DE345

Having repaired many of this model and other similar models, I can get at teh board relatively quickly. That being said, it is a poor design for repairs. It is, however, cheap and quick for manufacturing. Take your time and remove all of the board screws, the screws that hold down the heatsink and the rear cabinet screws. The whole board should be able to lift from the back with a little patience. Be careful not to tear any of the ribbon connectors. With the unit on its side, you should have access to resolder any questionable joints.
