My new hdtv makes a loud buzzing sound. it is connected to directv.I used a video connection because when the hdmi is used the sound is lost when the power is turned off and then back on. The tv is a philips 42" and replaces an old tv which also has the buzzing when connected to directv. Could it be the box? It is a new hd box and was professionally installed on the old tv. The place where I signed up for directv will not send the installer back to fix it. When I called directv they said it is not the box.

I have comcast and get buzzing from the box when everything is off. Do you have the option of unplugging it and having the t.v. on by itself or will the provider have to come reprogram it. If not, disconnect box to rule out t.v. before t.v. warranty is out.

It has a loud buzzing noise how do I fix that problem?

It appears that your connections are not correct. Please switch off the TV. Disconnect all the cable. Wait for some time. Reconnect cables one by making sure you strictly follow the color code i.e. that red pin cable must go in the red socket. After all the cables are connected switch on the TV. Loud buzzing noise is due to wrong connection of cables especially the Earthing/Neutral

Is this TV HD capable?

This is not an HDTV. However, that does not mean you cannot use it to view the HD channels with DirecTV, you just wont be able to view them in hi-def. Use the component inputs from the directv tuner and plug those into the proper component inputs of your JVC. Once you see the DirecTV picture on the screen, go into menu... setup (with the directTV remote) and make sure that the only resolution checked is 480i. DirecTV with 'downconvert' those cannels to standard def, and they will still look pretty good though the component connection...

... now, in answer to your next question: "What exactly do I need to view HDTV with DirecTV?"...

1. A television that will accept 720p or 1080i signals.
2. A DirecTV HD Tuner.
3. Any DirecTV service BUT you must purchase the HD pack so that they will 'unlock' the HD channels
4. The proper cables to hook in between your DirecTV HD receiver and your HD-capable TV/Monitor. You may use either HDMI or component video cables, so long as your TV will accept them. Tune your TV input accordingly. When using component video cables, you must also run a separate cable(s) for audio...

Take care,
Rob

ps. DirecTV HD tuners do not have an RF 'out'. ("coaxial or ch3/4 connection")
