When camera is plugged in the computer and is one, the charge lamp/flash lamp flashes and won't let you do anything like upload pictures etc. You have to disconnect from the USB port to have any function....

When the camera is connected to a computer, you can control the transfer from the computer. The camera is just a dumb slave when connected, leaving control to the computer.

You might want to consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer when download pictures. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

Instead of using the cord to upload pictures from camera to computer, is there a device similar to a flash drive that I can use to upload pictures to the computer from my Fuji FinePix J10 Digital Camera?

Hi,

You can download pictures from your camera to your computer by using a memory card reader (You can use your computer's built-in memory card reader, if it has one, or you can purchase an external memory card reader as shown in the attached image).
6b262ef.jpg
To do this, kindly remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into a card reader. Connect the card reader to the USB port of your PC (if you are using an external card reader).
Now, the memory card will be shown as a "Removable disk" in "My Computer". You can browse the images and copy the images to your computer.

Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa.

My sandisk memory card will not upload pictures to my computer.

The card can't do that on its own. You must find it in My Computer, cut the picture files from it and paste them in another location on your pc.

I cannot upload pictures/ videos from my PNY 8GB memory stick.

The newer large capacity cards in cameras designed for smaller capacity cards seem to have trouble interfacing with our computers. The best best is to get a high speed firewire memory card reader and attach it directly to your computer.
This should allow your computer to recognize your card and also allow you quicker downloads.

Upload pictures from computer to camera flash card

Try looking at the response given here. The same solution will work in reverse. In Windows Explorer, highlight the pictures you want to transfer then drag them to your camera's drive. You can even place them in a new subdirectory.
