That would be the little fan in the freezer that moves the air around that makes it frost free, replace the fan

This is an electronic card problem in the back of the freezer. It is a well-known problem in these GE side-by-sides.

WATER SPLASHING IN FREEZER AT ICEMAKER
THE FILL TUBE IN BACK OF REFRIGERATOR CAN SLIP
AGAINST THE FILL RESERVOIR CAUSING A PARTIAL BLOCKAGE
OR BECOME CLOGGED WITH ICE.
REMOVE THE ICEMAKER AND INSPECT THE FILL TUBE.
RUN WATER IN TUBE TO ELININATE BLOCKAGE AND CHECK
TEMP IN FREEZER. IF TEMP IS BELOW 0 DEGREES, THATS
OVERKILL AND USUALLY A WASTE OF ELECTRICITY TO KEEP IT THAT COLD, NOT TO MENTION THE FILL TUBE FREEZING UP

My GE side-by-side refrigerator is making a fairly loud ticking sound--about once every second-sounds like a big clock.

Water line to ice maker is frozen. Thaw out freezer. Put food in dry ice cooler and open freezer door, reset to OFF, and thaw freezer for four hours. It'll work after that.

GE side by side has a whinng sound goes loud and low

Need to unplug and remove the back panel in freezer to see if there is a defrost problem or whats going on with evaporator fan. Let me know for sure if your model is a HSM25IFTSA so we will be on same refrigerator. Thanks, Sea Breeze

I replaced the water filter for my GE GSH25JSTA SS side by side fridge and now the unit is no longer dispensing water

I have had the same problem with the same model several times in the past. It also happens to me within a few days of replacing the water filter.

In my case, I believe the water line in the freezer door has become frozen. I usually let the freezer thaw for a couple of hours, and my water works again.

I have had constant problems with this model. I would recommend trying to sell your fridge now while it's still running, before the real headaches begin (mine has died 2x in the past six months, and I have not even had it for 2.5 years yet). No more GE's in my house.

OUR GE SIDE BY SIDE MODEL# GSH25JSTA-SS IS MAKING A STRAINING LOUD NOISE. HELP

Hello.
Can you tell where the sound is coming from, underneath or inside? If it is coming from underneath make sure the coils are clean and the fan below is blowing. Usually the compressor will labor under these conditions. Let me know if these all check out ok and I will go over some other things..
