Remove toilet tank. In toilet seat is small hole filled with sealer. What is this for and if removed will it leak water?

Remove and clean the flush valve and the flush valve seat(it is the flap that opens up to allow water to flush the toilet). Once the edges of the valve and the seat are cleaned, possibly with "0000" grit bulldog steel wool, it should not leak anymore. To make sure it is not leaking, once tank has refilled completely, put some food die in the tank. If, after 10-15 minutes, the water in the toilet bowl is colored, you have a leak from the flush valve. Replacing the flush valve is very easy - just bring the old one with you to the hardware/plumbing store and ask for a replacement. Blessings and good luck!!

Check the fill valve for any obstructions, or the diaphragm under the top cover. where the small hole attaches to the top of the fill valve. Why was it removed? If due to blockage the blockage may still be inside the bowl trap.

the fill valve is not letting water in you either have a float that raises up when water is full so when you flush the float drops down letting water in then when water raises it shuts off i would replace the float fill valve and corky flapper.... here is what you do .... first shut water off where it goes up to the tank....... flush commode to empty as much water from tank....... reach up under tank there is a plastic coupling that connects the water supply line to the bottom of the toilet tank...put a small pan under the shut off valve that goes to the toilet some water is going to drain from the tank when you take the coupling loose..... turn the coupling counter clockwise ( use a channel lock adjustable wrench to loosten then had turn) once this is loose you can pull the riser tube away from the tank...... now there is a plastic nut that screws the shaft to the bottom of the tank loosten with channel lock then remove with hand by turning counter clock wise ( you will get a bunch of water flowing down to the pan) remove the entire fill valve , replace with a fluidmaster fill valve ( about 8 bucks from big box store when you take the new fill valve out of the box there is a neopreme seal you must put on the new threaded shaft ( it has an inner ring you may have to punch out) once you put this on you can insert the entire shaft down through the hole in tank then secure with thin nut provided tighten but do not overtighten then put coupling back on,,,,,put the over flow tube on the tit of the fill valve and stick down into over flow ok thats done when you go to big box store purchas a 5 buck corky flapper (red caus it can handle chlorine water better) remove the old one at bottom of tank( just two clips to remove and chain attached to flush lever...install new one be shure chain does not have a lot of slack so it does not fall under flapper seal when you flush......OK YOU ARE DONE TURN WATER ON WATCH TANK FILL LOOK FOR LEAKS TAKE A TOWEL AND DRY ALL AREAS THEN TAKE YOUR HAND AND FEEL FOR LEAKS UNDER TANK AND DOWN TO SHUT OFF VALVE .....CONGRATS YOU DID IT!

With out seeing it, it is hard to actually know what the problem is, but it sounds like it is either where the water line enters the tank, or the gasket between the tank and the bowl. Either way there should not be any silicone. The water line flows into the fill and shut off valve. If it is leaking from there get a whole new valve for under $20.00. For the gasket between the tank and the bowl you have to remove the tank and replace the gasket.

What many people are unaware of is a small crack in the tank and rarely a small crack in the bowl. If the leak is not from one of the two things I mentioned above it has to be a crack and in that case a new toilet.

If you can not tell where the water is coming from it could be a crack or the wax ring under the toilet may need replaced. You might want to call a plumber and get a free estimate on what the problem is.

If you cannot tighten them, then they will need to be replaced. Turn off the water supply valve, flush the toilet and bail out as much residual water as possible. Remove the old bolts and separate the tank from the bowl. Replace the old tank gasket and refasten the tank with new bolts, properly placing rubber washers symetrically. An added precaution that I use is (after drying the inside of the tank well) is applying a dab of clear elastomeric sealant to the top of each bolt head, working it past the edges of the bolt heads onto the tank. Allow the sealant to cure as per directions. Open the supply valve slowly and allow the tank to fill. Inspect the tank bolt holes for leaks.

I am not familiar with that model, but it sounds like your fill valve is leaking or the water level in the tank is too high. Take the toilet tank top off and flush the toilet. When the water gets full and you hear the water stop ( except for your leak) look at the flush valve. Is water running over the top of it and running into the hole in the middle? Then the float need adjustment.
If you are hearing you leak still, lift up on the float. Did it stop? if so the valve may need adjustment due to it not seating completely. You can probably find something online (youtube) easier than I can explain it.

Remove the top of the water tank.
check to be sure that the flush cover (about in the center of the tank) can close all the way. It seats into a 2 inch hole - and must seat all the way around. If it fails to seat, then the fill valve (on the left side of the tank) will continously let water into the tank.

As a starter experiment, you may try just turning whe water off at the wall shut off. Then inspect the tank to confirm that it is losing water.
If confirmed, then the above solution is correct.
If it is not losing water, then the fill valve is faulty and will need to be replaced (it is allowing water to over flow into the "OverFlow" tube.....

I recommend that you keep the water turned off at the wall until the toilet is needed - and the problem is repaired.

Purchase a new flush valve at hardware store.
You'll need cresent wrench, locking pliers, small pipe wrench, small pail, towels, putty knife.
turn off water supply, flush toilet to remove water from tank, soak up remaining water with towel in tank, remove supply line from valve on botton of tank (you may have to hold valve with pliers inside the tank to keep from turning.) Clean area inside tank with putty knife where new valve will seat. Install new valve, attach supply line, connect overflow tube. turn on water.
Check for leaks.
Repeat if necessary. :-)

remove old flapper, go to local hardware store and get a replacement for about $4.
do not forget to turn water off and flush it to clear the tank first. clean the fapper seat too.
