Top Freezer and Fridge not working

A few days ago the freezer stopped working and everything inside defrosted. Then today the fridge itself stopped working though the light still turns on when you open the fridge door.

This has been happening on and off for two months. It will turn off by itslef and then start working on its own again. I have had people come in to look at it, and nobody knows what the problem is. The fridge is three years old.

The alarm goes off by itself and the fridge will stop working. switch it off for two to three days and it work again for few days

switch fridge off and defrost it 24hrs. inside fridge remove panel and locate the flap on the thermostat. put something behind it to jar it open about half inch. restart fridge and see if it cures problem. if it does fridge thermostat requires replacing. jaring the flap open is only a temporary fix to diagnose problem. but i did mine 4 months ago and still fine

Fridge/Freezer

Probably be cheaper to get new one, it has probably had the compressor fail or a leak in the cooling system.

Hi monica ,
the heating element in your freezer might be bad or the thermostat. that is way your freezer is not melting the ice inside and the noise that you hear it's the fan that prob' tuch ice or also is getting bad.

Fridge not cold as should be

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp .

OR.
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

Freezer works, fridge doesn't cool

Probably excessive ice in the condensor. Likely defrost thermostat or defrost heater problem.

What happens is excessive ice keeps airflow from the refrigerator part of the unit.

Freezer not working but fridge is

tratra72

You said,
I opened my freezer today and everything was defrosting. The fridge is working fine. I thought maybe did not shut properly so made sure it was closed and 8 hours later it is still not freezing. The fan is working but the air is refrigerator. HELP!!!

1.Try unplugging the fridge for 5 minutes and then restarting it! This may reset the system!
2.If the freezer is so full that the rear vents are blocked then this may happen. Because the fridge and the freezer share the air!
3. If not then the freezer and the fridge have different controls and the freezer control if faulty!

then you need service. ur site has good service companies in your are for our customers!

Zanussi fridge freezer - fridge not working

The defrost cycle is not happening like it should, that's what causes the block of ice (and poor air flow). If you have all that defrosted look at the defrost bi-metal, it usually is a small round disk with a couple wires coming out of it and it's clipped on the coils. When it's cold enough, it passes electricity to the heat elements, when it gets hot enough it "opens" and kills power to the heat elements. If that is bad (swollen cracked or bloated) and not passing electricity to the elements that's the problem. Another item would be the defrost timer itself, if it doesn't work (no clock motor turning) then it will never go into defrost. And the last and usually least expected failure would be the heat element themselves not working
