Electric LG DLEX2801W (steam dryer) not heating.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

If you have already cleaned the vent then the problem is with the Thermal fuse. When the thermal fuse goes bad it cannot be reset and replacing it is recommended repair. It is located on the blower wheel housing inside the rear panel to the exhaust duct. You can test it for continuity before replacing. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

We have a DLEX 2801 front loading LG dryer. It has been having a slight burning smell, so we checked the lint below the normal lint collector and cleaned that out well. However, there is a plate with...

Usually when an electric dryer overheats it's because of a defective cycling thermostat or a clogged vent system. Clean any lint from the internal and external ductwork, and/or replace the cycling thermostat. Although this isn't a common problem, one of the thermostats that controls the temperature in your dryer may break and cause the dryer to heat poorly. If so, you need to replace it. The thermostat is usually a small, round, black device mounted to an oblong steel plate. The plate is mounted to the internal ductwork with two screws. The vent holes you described that look burnt is the heat intake for the dryer. Almost all dryers look like this and it is normal.

On pg 18 of the service manual for this combo, front-load LG washer/dryer, it basically says if the drain's not working and you see an OE error code, clean the drain pump filter and retry. So first do that.

This is usually caused by condensation, or sometimes from excess water that isn;t voiding the machine.

Where can i find a free service manual for LG WM3431HW?

Unfortunately you won't find one.

LG only supply their servicing manuals to their repair centres and strictly enforce their copyright, so the manuals are not available to the public and when they do occasionally appear the material has been stolen.

Usually I'd recommend a generic repair manual such as the one by Haynes, but LG's direct drive system and a number of other unique technical features mean that the Haynes book isn't as useful as it could be. The WM3431HW is a large capacity and technically advanced washer dryer so it's certainly not as straightforward to service as a traditional front loading washer or dryer. Many LG spare parts can also be difficult to source outside of their own approved servicing organisation.

I respectfully suggest that you either get LG to fix your machine or post a question on this site describing the problem to see if we can assist you.

Bonus, it actually completes a wash cycle and does not stick at 6 minutes, drying forever.

Freakin service tech stated it was the Power Control Board, IDIOT!

While I was in there, I cleaned out the heater blower assembly and sensors. They were full of caked on lint and the sensors had debris all over them.

Also cleaned out all the lint and debris around the rubber seal, this will eliminate those annoying mildew oders.

Hope this helps someone, Happy New Year!
