I need a connect my HP laser jet 4700 printer to the network but i need to buy a network card first, what is the best type i can get?
There are two ways to network your printer.
1. You can just connect your printer to your computer and make this printer shareable on your network. The disadvantage with this method is, your computer and printer must be on when the other computers on your network want to print to this printer. You do not need to purchase a Jetdiredt Print Server card.
2. The other method is to install Jetdirect Print Server card in the blank slot in the printer. This method allows all computers on your network to access the printer any time provided it is switched on.
Of course in both these cases you need a working network and router/hub.
Please advise me which method you want to employ and I can then instruct you how to set your printer up on your network.

First - what kind of network do you have, a LAN cable or wireless with a router/hub? Second - does the LaserJet 4700 have the option Jetdirect network card installed in the printer?
