Have your battery tested / charged.
Totally dead battery may take some extra time to charge being hooked to cables.
When a battery is "hard discharged" as you described...sometimes they never recover and require replacement.
try JVC website and search for your product and see if they still make the accessories as I don't know how old your product is.... on the left side you can find links that may help also: http://www.jvcservice.com/service/JMdlPrtXrf.asp
This small back-up battery on my Sony is under the main big power battery, it is like a large screw under the main power pack, I just turn that screw and the little round lid comes off to get to the little silver flat back-up one. They are readily available from most good camera shops like Jesops for around £12 to £15 each.
Mine does this if the battery is not charged. Make sure the battery is installed with the contacts lined up (my daughter is a pro at putting the battery in upside down, and it doesn't connect to anything that way!) and charge it up overnight.
If it's still giving you trouble the next day, post back and we'll try something else.
recently bought a used jvc camcorder gr-d290 but even when l pu tthe battery on charge for hours it goes flat in less than twenty minutes . what can be the problem?
your battery way have went bad shorted internally.
if this is what happen and you pluged the charger in it may have also shorted out your charger. To know for sure get a good battery and test the camcorder, you may need to get a new or recondition charger.hope this has help jerry
I bought 3 Sony camcorders at different times, I have used not more than 20 times for each, and my brother bought another kind of camcorder did the same, but after 3-4 years, automatically quit one by one, even my brother’s camcorder quit within 4 years too, this is what I think, the big companies like Sony, Jvc etc., won’t let you use the same unit for a long time, from our case, made us thought, they probably put a timer to control the age of the camcorders. Maybe we have to know how to adjust or change the timer chap, this called a quality control.
I am still research about this case. And also I have a lot of documents can not transfer.
