The dryer is just over a year old and when it is drying it makes a grinding(vibrating) noise during the cycle as if there is a dry bearing or something.I believe my wife called hoover out about 6 month ago and was told that the bearing didnt have enough grease on it,but we dont know what he greased, what he used or how he got into it.Can you advise any help welcome.Regards john
Had this problem with mine. Its the belt tensioner pulleys that have seized and cause the noise.I got 2 net tensioners and fitted them myself. The parts come to about £15 but its a total strip down to replace the parts. been working fine now for about a year
Preblem. hoover nextra8 dryer, it squeels but only in one direction. Solved problem with WD40. Push the tube that came wth WD40 into the nozel of WD40 . Open dryer door, isert the tube into the catch opening. point it towards the drum bearing surface apply some WD40 at the same time turn the drum by hand. Don't expect instant results, give it a hour so .
Take the back off then put it back on again .its out off line and catching the white air wheel . that should stop it

I have the same problem the dryer squeals most of the time it is on. We have tried taking the back off but this has not helped the problem. As our machine is also just over a year old is this a problem with them all?
I to have the grinding dry bearing sound, I have stopped it in the short term by spraying WD40 onto the pulley belt wheel mechanism through the slots in the rear panel. The problem is gaining access to the pulley as the rear panel cannot be removed.
I have the same problem! First time round the engineer came and lubricated it and it stopped for about a year but has started again! I think I will do the Wd40 trick!
I had my machine from new and within 9 months the bearing noise started. The engineer informed me that on production there were loads of machines where the bearings had not been greased when they should have been. A year later and mine has started whining/grinding/ like a dry feel, I knw when he greased the bearings it solved the problem. But now a year later I have the nosie back. I just called Hoover and they said although my machine is guaranteed for a further 2 years for parts I have to pay the labout cost which is £119.00! That is ridiculous! I can buy a new machine for that! I;m going to try and take the back off and grease the bearings or spray WD40 everywhere and just hope for the best!
I have the same problem with a Hoover Nextra HNC 180 (8kg) condenser dryer, after 5 mins of use a loud grinding noise. I pulled the back off and vacumed and then applied WD40 but didnt stop the problem for long. I contacted Hoover but they were un-helpful, resigned to having to buy another dryer (not hoover).
