I'm trying to play a DVD I made from my computer on an Emerson DVD player. I've tried two different formats (wma and mpeg). They won't play (dvd player says error). Any suggestions please?
I play recorded DVD-R and DVD+R on mine all the time. It only plays true DVD Video formats, so if your trying to play a windows media file anything other than a true DVD Video, it won't happen on this player. It supports DL also in the correct format.
Your player may only be able to play DVD-format discs. Try converting the video with Nero or WinAvi or DVDFlick to true DVD format.

My Emerson won't play anything except DVD Movies, never has, wasn't suppose too. Make your movies in DVD Video format and it will read them fine (unless it's broke). I make movies all the time and play them back in mine. It reads DVD-R, DVD+R, and in duel layered. It will not read RW disks!
Man I've every problem you can imagine with DVD Players. I've found when the disk gets stuck, as long as it's not jammed. You can turn the unit off or unplug it. Plug it back in but DON'T TURN IT ON! Instead hit the eject button and the drive should open the drive without trying to read the disk.
