My matag atlantis just stopped working. It will not fill with water or anything? It stopped working after I opened the lid while it was in spin mode. Is there a reset button anywhere?

It is very likely that the motor has burned out. What happens is that the water solenoid allows water to fill to a certain point where a fill sensor stops it. The program then moves on to activate the motor which will agitate the wash. So when power is supplied to the motor, it tries to start, overheats because of a break down of insulation in the windings, and you smell burning. Replace the motor.
does it fill with water?
Does it not do anything after it fills?
If this is the case than it is most definitely the lid switch.
I recently had the exact same problem. Easy fix if you are handy.
Remove back of control panel to access the mounting screws. this will give you hand access to the lid switch. Try manually activating it after letting it fill. Replace switch or repair if able.
Good luck
check to see if you have power to the fill valve when the cold water should be going in;(reverse the connectors on the fill valve) i.e. hot now will not go in... replace the fill valve: (buy it at an appliance parts store) (inexpensive) it's an easy replacement job
check your door switch. Many times a faulty door switch can prevent the spin cycle. When you locate the door switch, take a jumper wire across the connection and advance the timer to spin. If it spins with the jumper wire, you will need a new door switch.
