My camara got wet with salt water and does not turn on.

There is very little that can be done, salt water will corrode metal on contact, all eletronic parts have been compromised, if the memory card is still intact save your pictures and remove it from the camera to transfer to new hardware. Replacing the camera unfortuneately is the only option.

When a digital camera takes on salt water the outcome is not good, once inside it will corrode the ic pins on the circuit board and work it's way in the casing, eventually the camera will go into cascade failure until it becomes unusable. This can take hours, days, or even weeks before it is finished, I recommend transferring your photo's while you still can.

Saltwater? I don't think you're going to revive this camera. If it were fresh water - you'd have a fighting chance - but salt water is highly corrosive and is a much better electrical conductor than fresh water. Even if you managed to get the camera work right after it got wet - chances are the salt would eventually "work its magic" and corrode metal circuits inside the camera and cause it to fail - much the way salt "eats cars" in areas that roads are treated with salt in winter to control ice.

If you ever have a water problem with something not designed to get wet, place the item in a bowl of uncooked rice. Cover completely and let it sit a day or two. The dry rice will wick away water and moisture on and inside the device. If doused in salt water, the water will be absorbed - but salt deposits are left behind, as salt can not be evaporated.

Leave it in a dry environment for a few days until everything dries. I'm afraid the camera is permanently damaged if the rain has salt or chemical content. Hopefully it doesn't and it's just a matter of drying out.

Let it dry completely.. Take out battery, do not turn on until dry. If wet with fresh water, should still work if not shorted out already. Salt water is much worse. Put it somewhere dry for about a week before trying again.

Sorry but saltwater is the worst thing after fire or total crushing that any electronic device can be exposed to. Salt causes physical and chemical damage which is near impossible to reverse. You might not have seen any water inside the camera, but it only takes a tiny amount to destroy a digital camera.

Your camera may look ok, but it's a write-off. It's impossible to remove all residual salt which will continue to corrode circuitry inside the camera. Any tiny pockets of trapped saltwater are eletcrically conductive and will cause electronic faults, any condensation which occasionally gets into all cameras just dissolves trapped salt to effectively become seawater.

The only hope would have been to immediately remove the battery and memory cards and then to immerse the camera in de-ionised water, but even then the camera would likely have been ruined. Leaving it to dry out for two days has simply ensured that remaining salt deposits are now buried deeply within the components and absorbent materials used in the camera.

Sorry to disappoint you, but your only hope is that the camera was insured against accidental damage. Even then, the insurer may refuse to pay by arguing that your camera was put at unnecessary risk by not being in a waterproof housing.

Rice can do miracles when used to absorb water, for this reason it is commonly used for this purpose, have you ever seen some rice in a salt saker and wondered why it was there? salt goes bad when it gets wet, so it absorbs the moisture from the air. Just ensure its raw rice, and not cooked.
Give it a day or two in the rice and wish it luck, unless you happen to have the custom screw driver required to open it up and dry it. Don't turn it on in the mean time. By turning on a wet device you run the risk of short circuiting it if you haven't already done so.

Well some people believe that if u put ur wet camara without the battery the on (uncooked) rice for 24 hours all the water left in it will leave the camara for good.

Cooking salt contains ingredients that could damage your dishwasher. It could increase water hardness and they are likely to clog when wet. Suck out as much water as you can from the salt cup,enter there dishwasher salt and run your washer few empty cycles on the lowest temperature. Good luck
