TomTom GO 910 won't turn on.

We have a TomTom GO 910. It is plugged into the window mount, the green light is on...on both the charger (plugged into the cigarette lighter) and the TomTom unit (upper left corner), but the unit won't turn on. How do I fix this?

Two possibilities:
- if someone has used the wrong charger, and connected it to a 12V supply, the mainboard may be damaged. In that case, you need a replacement.
- the battery may be discharged. Even if the green light is on, it doesn't necessarily charge up. Try pushing it hard onto the mount for a few minutes, then see if it will turn on.

If you have a tom tom from the GO models
they hace a reset button you can press with a pin were the mount fits.
When you plug in the charger the green light should come on to say it is chargeing.
Try the car adapter to charge the tom tom

What do you use to charge the tom tom 910 in the house

In the box you have a 'desktop' mount. Looks like the windscreen mount without the ******.
Also you will have got a mains power lead.
Plug the lead into the 'desktop mount' (Left hand side) of the stick up bit.
Plug in and put your 910 onto the mount. It will 'Click' into place
The green light will shine to show it's charging.

To release the unit from the mount PRESS in the button in the middle of the screen top rim and lift off.

Remember to turn of the power at the socket to stop wasting electricity

The usb part of the desktop mount goes into your pc so you can connect to TomTom home or just plain old 'back it up'
It is ok to have power switched on or off when connect to the pc, there is no need to unplug the jackplug.

Hope this helps

you need to do a hard restart. find tiny hole on under side by bracket mount and press it with a tiny paper clip once. you have to look very very close to see it. you can also try to hold down on power button for 5 to 6 sec.

TomTom910 not charging

This is a common problem with the 910. Try putting an obstacle in the way of the wire to keep it on. Better still is to not use the home dock at all. Just plug the home charger in to the windscreen mount (device connected of course!) and charge it that way. You get a better charge and it will stay on.

My tomtom go 910 will not switch on it has the green light on at the top left when plugged into a charger but nothing turns on when pressing button for 2 seconds any ideas??

In general I find these sort of problems can be fixed by the below

If the Tomtom loses battery power it might cease to function with a blank screen but will show a green light when you charge it. The trick is charge it on the mains charger for at least two hours. Then reset the device with a paper clip. If you get no reponse hold down the on button for at least 20 secs and the device will show the Tomtom logo and play a drum roll and startup normally.

Will not power up

Had same problem with my GO910 unit, after it was about 6 months old. Contacted TomTom and sent unit back. They said that they are aware of the problem. They sent me back a new GO 720 with 2008 maps as they said they could not fix the problem in the 910. and they were not importing anymore 910 into Australia.
