This could be an HDCP "hand shake" problem. Try turning both the TV and the connecting device off, connect the two using HDMI, turn both of them back on, select the proper input and see if you get a picture. If nothing happens try the other HDMI inputs by following the steps listed above. I hope this helps.

See the following Thread for more information about problems with the Pro-Ro6u.

I had the same problem with non-functional HDMI inputs with this Pioneer Elite Pro RO6U and found the solution. Using the remote control, first select the input you intend to use (HDMI inputs are either 1 or 3). First verify the screen displays either input 1 or 3 , then press the Home Menu button at mid height right side on the remote control. In the Home Menu, click down to the Option menu and press Enter on the remote. In the Option menu, click down to the HDMI Input and press Enter on the remote. Highlight the the Setting tab and press Enter. Highlight Enable and press Enter. Use the Return button on the remote control to back out of all these menus.

Is there anyway to do this if you don't have the remote?

Hi, I have a brand new blu ray player, have set it to bitstream, and am attempting to use an optical audio cable, which does not work. The coax analog works fine but cannot get sound. I see in manual...

Instructions from manual

This receiver is equipped with two DIGITAL IN terminals-one digital coaxial terminal and one digital optical terminal.
You can connect any component to one of the digital terminals using a digital coaxial cable (not supplied) or digital optical cable (not supplied).

IMPORTANT:
• When connecting a video component using the digital terminal, you also need to connect it to the video jack on the rear. Without connecting it to the video jack, you cannot view the playback picture.
• After connecting the components using the DIGITAL IN terminals, correctly set the following if necessary:
- Set the digital input (DIGITAL IN) terminal setting correctly. For details, see "Selecting the Digital Input Terminals-DIGITAL IN" on page 16.
- Select the digital input mode correctly. For details, see "Selecting the Analog or Digital Input Mode" on page 17

The rest can be found on the link below. NOTE the page numbers referrer to the manual pages NOT the pages numbers on the site.

Yamaha RX-V365 Receiver when I hook up my center channel it is not audible at all. The R and L speakers work fine when they were located in the FRONT A and FRONT B terminals, but when I moved everything to...

With what signal did you try? Maybe your signal source (DVD/TV or radio) didn't contain any sounds for the center channel.
Go to the Setup menu, Speaker setup / Manual setup and find there item called "Test tone". It will output a test tone to each speaker individually (you will see on LCD which speaker is being tested at each moment). If you will hear a sound from the center now, there is no issue and center is working fine, just your source didn't contain any sound for the center.

If it doesn't work, then either you have faulty cable, faulty speaker or faulty center output of the receiver.
- Try connecting the center speaker to different output of receiver (this will test if speaker is OK).
- Try connecting working LEFT speaker to left output with CENTER cable (this will test if cable is OK).
- Try connecting working LEFT speaker with working cable to the CENTER output (this will test the output of receiver if OK - but use the Test Tone from Setup).

Yamaha reciever doesnt recognise hdmi from Mac laptop

Max does recognize receiver over HDMI-CEC.
The problem is that DVI output is for video only. Macbook won't (and can't) output audio via DVI. So yamaha receives only video signal via the HDMI connector. You can check that by pressing Option button on yamaha remote and choosing Signal Info - you will see info about video, but no audio signal present.

8' Optical Cable from TV to Receiver and Signal is Breaking Up

Before you buy anything try checking the AUDIO Settings in the Menu of Each Device (Mostly TV) and see if they are set to PCM or BITSTREAM. HDMI is mostly set to PCM while Optical is generally Bitstream. The TV may be set to the opposite of what it needs to be. I would try to get PCM to work first cause it is Better, If not then set what you can to Bitstream and it should pass. Also check in TV Menu for SOUND OUT or AUDIO OUT or SPEAKERS. Some TV's have a problem passing Audio through when they are already Outputting them to it's own Speakers! I Hope this Helps out!

Video Inputs for Denon AVR 589

manual is here: http://www.usa.denon.com/AVR-589-OM-E_006.pdf

Note on page 11 says "because video signals are out put from the AVR-589's monitor output terminal IN THE SAME FORMAT AS THE VIDEO SIGNALS, THE MONITOR OUTPUT TERMINAL SHOULD BE THE SAME TYPE AS THE TERMINAL USED FOR INPUT."

You cannot mix the HDMI with the others. You must therefore use the same on DVD and Cable box.

Best Regards and happy new year!

Sony str-dg820. having a problem getting video on tv

Hook up Composite / Component Monitor Out wire from receiver to TV video input because receiver will not change analog input into HDMI
You need to connect receiver and TV through analog video terminals as above.
Actually you are expecting that receiver will convert DVD player and Xbox analog video input into digital HDMI signal for TV and This is incorrect.

**L@@K** How To Connect Laptop To Projector To Receiver!! HELP!!!

"the PT-AE900U supports a full range of input sources, including DVD and video players, PCs and game machines. An HDMI input provides compatibility with HD digital sources, while component video input terminals deliver full-quality, detailed images from high-end, progressive-scan DVD players. The PC IN terminal can be connected to a game machine or PC. Other terminals include composite and S-video, as well as a serial terminal for connecting a touch panel controller or similar device." You can go to Dell support to either read your manual, but your laptop model's manual is there for the reading. It lists all the outputs. if you have a problem figuring which to use, they will tell you. your manual can be found at http://support.dell.com/support/dsn/dsnsearchresult.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&Query=bWFudWFs&SystemID=INS_PNT_P4_9400&ServiceTag=&contenttype=-1&os=-1&component=-1&lang=-1
You may either have to connect the laptop directly to the Panasonic, or you may be able to connect it through the Harmon Kardon, but I doubt if there will be any advantage to doing that.
