Hi,
The thermostats gone.
try using it on very cool temprature setting.
See if it lasts longer.
Not worth the trouble of replacing a thermostat.
I,d buy a new Iron.

My Rowenta Power Glide DE-08 iron has stopped working. Once, if I moved the cord around it worked. So I I took it apart and checked the wiring connection which seemed to be tight. I then plugged it in...

hi.

you will probably find that the cable is broken where it comes out of the iron.
this is not an unusual problem as the wire is being constantly bent and straightened here, and eventually breaks.

take the iron apart as you did before to check the connections, and cut of the last 4-5 inches of the cable and reconnect in exactly the same way it is now.
this should cure the problem.

hope this helps

IRon heats standing but the light goes out when I set it horizontal to iron a garment. I think the cord is needing replacement but need advice.

If the iron is not moved while it is plugged
in, an internal safety switch will turn it off.
- It will turn off in 8 minutes if left vertically or
in 30 seconds if left on its soleplate or tipped
over. A red flashing light indicates that the
auto-off has been activated.

The above information is from the Rowenta DX1700 Owner's Manual. I think most, if not all Rowenta irons have the "auto off" safety feature. If your iron is going off before the 30 seconds idle time, the sensor may be defective. If you are letting it sit on the sole plate longer than 30 seconds, you may just need to work faster. ;-)

How can I demineralize my rowenta iron? I use carbon filtered water in it. The last time I used it white stuff came out of the steam ports and it sounded like there was sediment inside when I moved the...

Fill the resevoir with a 25% vinegar to water solution & turn on the iron until it steams. Allow to cool and empty resevoir then rinse with clean water. Fill up resevoir and & turn on the iron until it steams again. Cool, empty & rinse again. DONE!

Only use distilled or reverse osmosis water in your iron. This will reduce mineral build up.

I have a Rowenta 1700 iron. The iron has started to act up. When I plug the iron in it just flashes & does not get hot. It is like it is in the stand by mode when you leave it on & don't iron...

This is a problem with a lot of Rowenta irons. It is the auto shut off that is not working properly and the only way to fix it is to have it disassembled and the switch hardwired to be on whenever the iron it plugged in. It is a thermal metal switch and it just stops working and then the iron will not turn on and the yellow light blinks.
