This remote control is for use with Toshiba 22AV500U TV. It is originally coded to use with this TV, yet other TVs also can be programmed with this remote contorl. There si no specific user manual for this remote control itself. All codes and proceedings are with the user manual for the above mentioned model Toshiba Tv. If you haven't that manual, send your email address to me by Fixya. I'll send a copy of that manual to you by return mail. It may be as simple as you say, there is a feature that indeed allows one to Zoom in on a section of picture, the alternative is that the image size and Format, may be incorrect and simply need adjustment.
Whatever the cause you need to have a look in the user manual first and check out, about Zoom,if any, then Picture size and Format.
If after you have checked and the settings seem OK, then you will need to use the service manual, to troubleshoot and isolate the problem. With a view to repair.
