Usually not. If the cells are dead and wont hold a charge there is really not much you can do except replace it or get the battery repacked with new cells.

if your battery is dead you can revive it by voltage regulator to shock the battery to revive it and need to charge it to gain back its life,,, charging the dad battery cannot help to revive it, 100 percent on that,,
There is no way to revive a bad battery. Inside they are made up of several cells a little bigger than a AA battery. Even if you could find the bad cell that is dead or not taking a full charge and replace it, the other cells are usually not too far from going bad also. Rechargeable batteries do have a finite lifetime and when it's up the only fix is to recycly the old and replace it with a new battery.
Is it Nano li-ion? have you got another spare battery to double- check? I experienced the same problem with 18V Dewalt nano li-ion battery. Was fully charged, came to work- Dead!!! I was lucky I had spare one, so then i was ok, but anyways had to buy a new one. Check on these things: 1. Battery is faulty. If u have any chances to ask someone who has the same gun (voltage is very important!!! has to be the same!!!- 12V battery to 12V gun, 14.4 to 14.4, 18 to 18 etc). Put your battery into that other gun. If You find the same problem that means your battery is dead. 2.Gun with battery contacts. If you 100% sure, that batterIES (check 2 batteries, or more) are OK, check bottom contacts where u put battery in, use WD40, or similar to clean them. 3. Least common Dewalt thing (Most common in Panasonic drills) is trigger contacts. Basically i do not know what model is your dewalt, i was only talking in general, but there are no miracles- stopped working suddenly, and what u describe new, for instance my new drill dw727kd is less than 1 year old, i was too stuppid to open that battery myself to void warranty :( AAAAHHH!!!!!! One more thing - If you have not tried to open these screws- check your nearest Dewalt authorised repair center- new NANO batteries have 2year warranty!
The battery needs to be revived when it is completely drained or when it is dead because the phone will not be able to charge it. For instructions on how to revive battery, check it here.
This option is worth a shot: http://sodoityourself.com/reviving-laptop-batteries/
There is also the cheaper alternative third-party sellers: http://www.global-laptop-batteries.com/dell-laptop-batteries.html
Generally speaking, Li-ion batteries should not be frozen. Putting the battery in a cool
place will help a little, in that while the battery is cold its
'aging' will slow. It will start to lose capacity
permanently at a normal rate when it warms up again.
I hope some of this information has helped. If it has please rate, if not please let us know.
When you drain a battery all the way till it is dead it sometimes can not be revived. You may need another battery. Sometimes people revive dead batteries by connecting them to 9V batteries and giving it a jump basically.(like a car)
How old is the battery? They do die if old and well used! You can try checking the fuse inside the charging unit . If this does not work or fuse is OK you can get the battery revived (there are places that do this) if it is not completely stuffed or just get a new battery which are quite cheep on ebay
