Setting language unable to set locations due to unit being in chinese. GPS works fine though. have set all menus i can see to English. Any ideas???

find the settings menu
suggest looking up english manual
find the words used to change language settings

eg
settings
is
Sh?zh?
in mandarin
so once you find the english words
google search english to mandarin translator
and translate english into mandarin
and find it on the phone menus in mandrin
or traditional mandarin characters

Go to settings and there is language setting option press it select your language press ok

The best way to solve this problem is to contact the customer service.

• Press TOOLS (The spanner Icon in the bottom right corner of the screen which says WHERE TO and VIEW MAP
• Press SETTINGS, the spanner icon, or (LOCALE the blue icon top right, on some models which don't have a SETTINGS icon)
• Press LANGUAGE (the lips icon)
• This will take you to a page with 3 items. VOICE, TEXT LANGUAGE and KEYBOARD.

If you need to change the text language press TEXT LANGUAGE and select English
If you need to change the voice language press VOICE and select a voice from an English speaking country. If you need to change the keyboard to english Press KEYBOARD and select English.

I know if the text is in Chinese you won't know which icon is which but by pressing each of them in turn you'll get to select English for each.

my garmin 255 shows chinese language. How i can change to english?

Just ask here, they are specialized in finding english manuals for chinese import items. They helped me a lot with my SciPhone mobile.

2. Press the Setting (gear) button (upper left).
3. Press the down arrow until once.
4. Press the 2nd row function (language).
5. Press the middle button of 3.
6. Press the up button until you see the function American English and select it.
7. Hit OK.

You should be back to English now.

Setting the Language

The language in which menus and messages are displayed can be selected with this function.

Method 1

1. Power the camera on in the (Playback) mode.
2. Hold down the <SET> button and at the same time press the <MENU> button.
3. Use the , , , or button to select a language and press the <SET> button.

Method 2

1. In the (Playback) mode press the <ON/OFF> button until the power lamp lights.
   
2. Press the <MENU.> button to display the Rec. or Play menu.
   
   - Use the button to select the (Set up) menu.
