The error code E06 means Cover Open. It is displayed if the scanner's top cover is open, or the top cover sensor has failed. Close the scanner's top cover.

"E06" it is the carriage mechanism that has failed. and will not carry the tape to the heads and thus is not passing the sensor that tells you if the tape is in position and then telling the unit as it should there is fault.
take it to the nearest dealer and get it fixed.
