I haven't worked on that model but usually you want a percent plus key, not a percent minus. You either add in a percent plus key to the keyboard, or you change the sign to plus in the settings. Check your manual for any info it has on the percent plus function.
You can try pressing "alpha" or "2nd" and then pressing the key you saw the percent sign on.
here is a temporary solution in case that doesn't work:to enter a percentage up to write the digits before the tens and ones (if any, and if not, just type a zero), a point, and the last two digits.ex:
56%=0.56
28%=0.28
132%=1.32
4243%=42.43
To write down the answer, take all the digits, take off the point, if the percentage is 99% or less, don't write the zero on the right of the period, and add a percent sign.
If I want 2/5 as a percentage (which is 40%), I would press
[2] [ /] [5] [%]
Instead of equal sign, I'll press % sign, which will give the answer as a percentage.
Of course this is a simple calculation. If you want advanced calculations let us know.
On calculators you do not usually get percents. Instead, you get values which can be converted to a percent. For example what percent is 245 out of 987. You divide 245/987=.248. This is essentially the same as saying 24.8 percent. You move the decimal over 2 values. You can also round to get a nice percent number such as 25 percent. If you are trying to put in a percent lets say you have to find 47% of 80. You just multiply .47 * 80= 38.4
You can try to look in the Catalog of commands : Press [2nd][0] to open the (CATALOG) , but you will not find it. The symbol just does not exist. There is compound symbol in the Finance applications (TVM) it is called tvm_I% but you cannot isolate the percent sign from the other symbols.
Against my better judgment that whispered to me not to answer this question I had to tell you the truth, even if it gets you mad at me. Sorry.
Sorry to disappoint you, but there is no such button or command on the TI8x family of calculators. To convert from decimal ratio to percent value, move the decimal mark two places to the right. To convert from percent to decimal value, move decimal mark two places to the left.
The keyboard of the typewriter differs from country to country to adjust to special characters used in its language.
In the standard US keyboard the percent sign is in number 5 key. To insert the percent symbol you would use right or left [SHIFT] + number 5 key , provided you are using the standard daisywheel,

Hi. It depends upon the model, but you may have a %+ key. If so, type 15 then press the percent key. if it takes 15 percent off (discount), then you will need to change the sign of the percent key to a surcharge.
Let me know if you need more help (model number please)
