Yes, for the SECOND TIME in 4 1/2 years of use. Did it again this weekend and I am really angry. Last time, under warantry, was over $100.00 in labor!!! And the guy said it was a design flaw that Amana was aware of! We are a family of 2 adults who both work, so it isn't getting heavy use either....Yes, for the SECOND TIME in 4 1/2 years of use. My amanaLWD 70AW top loader, doesn't blow a fuse but hums and stinks like electric overload, I changed the capacitor several months ago and it ran for a while, but now I've got the problem back.
I would like to avoid replacing the motor if that's not the problem. It runs fine once the initial load is taken off the motor. It is most likely the drain motor even though you hear it humming. The LG drain motor impellers usually wear out on the motor shaft, and the impellers then just end up wobbling. The result; a drain motor that no longer drains water.
Does the machine agitate if so this eliminates the motor coupling could be a bad timer place unit in spin if motor hums then power going to motor eliminates this check the drain pump it is white and attaches to the motor with 2 spring clips if there is something stuck in it or a bad bearing won't drain if a washer cannot drain it will not spin hope this helps.
Check for a failed capacitor under the control panel It is a start/run capacitor that the motor needs to start running. The motor will hum and if left will eventually burn out.
The hum you here is the probably the motor trying to turn, but it is about burned out. If it moves a little with a full load and more with no load, it is probably bad. If you hear a hum and the drum never moves at all you probably have a broken belt.
send the model number.if it's humming it sounds like the motor is bad.where.if it resets after a while and hums again it's the motor.there's an overload in the motor, when it gets to hot it pops and will reset after it cools.
