SOURCE: Kitchen Aid Blender Rubber Coupling replacement

Someone else suggested a link that explains exactly how to unthread the old coupling... and it works. It took me about 90 seconds to fix my blender. But in case that link is dead, here's a summary:

(1) Note that the coupling (the round part with teeth) is threaded to the blender motor in reverse to a standard threading. So it screws off just like a bottle top, but in a clockwise direction.

(2) place the blender base on a tabletop, facing you. You should probably unplug it.

(3) take a punch or a flathead screwdriver, and place it against one of the coupling teeth that is furtherest away from you.

(4) strike the back of the screwdriver with a small hammer or maillot. The result will spin coupling clockwise. It may take several tries, but the coupling will eventually spin clockwise faster than the motor, and it will begin to unthread.

(5) unscrew the old coupling, and screw the new coupling into place (counterclockwise). Note that the new coupling will tighten itself every time you use your blender, so no need to worry about tightening it too much.

(6) Make a smoothie to celebrate your success!

The piece that you need is referred to as the coupler. The coupler is a breakway part that is designed to shear and/or wear down in the event that the blender is overloaded. This is to avoid damage to the motor.

The coupler may be purchased individually and is an easy repair that can be done at home. You may purchase the part and access step-by-step replacement instructions at the following link:

Broken magnet of a Kitchen Aid Blender. Where can I find another one? KSB5WH4

From Kitchen Aid they only come on a new motor. I am a Kitchen Aid service agent and I remove them from burnt out motors and keep them. Look for a service agent near you and see if they can help you out. I have no idea where you are, I'm in New Zealand.

Changing the coupler

Lever it off with a screwdriver, it is aluminium and the threads on the ring will break away. Pick them out of the thread on the motor shaft and screw on a new coupling, it will be left hand thread.

How to open Kitchenaid KSB560OB to replace motor

Undo the 4 screws at the bottom. Before you do that though remove the clutch/motor drive. You cannot take the motor out with that still fitted.

Seems like motor has lost power

This sounds like the black rubber coupler has broken. The teeth often get knocked off. Have a look at the part shown in hte pictures here:

I need to replace my rubber spinner with a new one. Where can I get the part and how do I take the old one off and put the new one on?

Hi, you have broken the coupler (sometimes called a coupling). It is relatively cheap and easy to replace. In the UK, K A Parts Limited sell them here and provide removal instructions here.

Kitchen Aid Blender - blade not rotating

You will definitely need to change the clutch blade i.e. the black rubber rotating bit. Chaging it on the base unit may be difficult, I would check with your local Kitcheaid repairer for spare parts and repair advice.

Also check the clutch blade on the jug itself.
