Want to upgrade memory to 2 GB. Desktop will not post up with 2x1GB cards. Every 2-3 seconds it makes a sound/tone. The fans would turn on but there is no signal to the monitor. However, it will post up with 1x1GB card and 2x512MB cards. Seems like the desktop needs to be reset to recognize 2GB memory? How do I reset the desktop?

There is no reset just because you added memory.

If you have 2- 1GB sticks, try both , one at a time.

Your system spec's and manual tell nothing which dimm banks are suppose to be used , and if you can install 2-1GB sticks,
all it says is it can handle 2GB.

Now it says 512MB, sticks, this could mean you can only use 4-512MB sticks to get too 2GB,.

Now it does not tell which dimms are used if you have 2-1GB sticks,

You have 4 slots, the first two and the second two, most times, you either use the second bank of each pair, or the first slot of each pair,
but as I said, your system does not say.

So you can try both ways and see if one of them work.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but you system has a poor manual
on memory placement.

    512MB DDR SDRAM (1 × 512MB), 400MHz (PC3200)
    Expandable to 2GB

This is the ram for your system, notice it says 400MHz,
its not 333MHz as someone said.

Hi,
The maximum memory that this desktop can accept is 2GB. Please make sure that the 1GB ram modules are PC3200, 400Mhz, DDR400, 2.5v. These are the only 1GB modules this computer can accept.

Sounds like you have the wrong RAM installed - make sure you have matched pairs of PC3200 DDR SDRAM. (333mhz).

OR one of the sticks is faulty. Try using just 1 at a time. If this works, then they are not matched (Speed, Read/write speeds..)

    Sorry, PC3200 = 400mhz AND PC2700 is 333mhz.

Memory Upgrade

The memory must be matched registered1333 MHz DDR 3 ECC memory. Make sure that the memory you purchased meets these requirements or the motherboard will not recognize any DIMMs that do not meet the requirements set by the manufacturer.

Installing new motherboard, processor, mem, and video adapter. Powers on but no post.

If the beep is a very high pitched tone, turn off the computer. Your CPU is overheating. The thermal paste may not be spread correctly on the CPU or the heat sink isn't properly installed.

Otherwise, it's probably a memory error. This machine takes 2 GB of memory as 2 single GB memory sticks. Try booting the machine with only one DIMM installed. Try each stick individually before getting replacement memory.

I hope this helps.

Can I do a memory upgrade on Sony VGC -LS 37E?

the specs for your computer, it states that it is equipped with 2gb of memory 2x1gb and max at 2gb, so I doubt that any higher memory upgrade installed would work, or else it would cause your system to crash or even damage it.

Upgrade problems

Your system comes stock with one stick of DDR2 (512 MB), which means that it is _ not_ dual channel DDR2 memory as dual channel DDR2 must be installed in matched pairs. Try to exchange the new memory for 2G of some single channel DDR2.

Memory upgrade problem

That does not sound like a problem with a memory upgrade. try to unistall McAfee and reinstall. The memory change may have threw McAfee off. Make sure that the ram is also in the right bus. Buses are color coded and the 2 ram stick have to go into the same bus. this can cause problems

RAM Upgrade for AcerPower F5

Just to make sure, you are UPgrading the RAM aren't you, it originally has 1GB in it, didn't it? Because i Hate people that change things when it is unnecessary.
But you are right it helps to look at the little label on the RAM you took out as to what kind to get, try to get the same speed will probably guarantee it will work.

Upgrade needed?

Well, i took a look whaats on your Acer, you definetly need to upgrade your graphic card, and u need a lot more memory.
The graphic card u need is an APG 8X card, make sure that the new graphic card is a fast one coz your processor is a sempon, its like an intel celeron, not realy made for games.
The momory you have is 512mb, you have 2 slots and you can max have 2gb, i sugest you buy 2x1gb sticks, the memorytype is 184 Pin DIMMs 400MHz.

Here is the details for your pc:

Memory module

Your motherboard supports 533MHz memory modules, no more. If you put anything higher in, it will work, but only at the speed of 533MHz, so there's not much point in aiming any higher. Just make sure what you're buying is a DDR2 533MHz memory module, and it's best to get them in increments of 2. If you have 4 slots on your motherboard, get another 2x512MB modules of RAM. If you're running Windows Vista, it might be worth considering 2x1GB modules. I think that pretty much covers your question, if you have anything else to ask, feel free to reply.
