If your camera has a video out cable connection you might be able to view photos on TV or Monitor but screen repolacement on older camera is not very cost effective. Rich
never heard of anyone replacing camera screens, I would search online and ebay for screens (to see if they even sell them) or just give a repair shop (computer repair or a places that repairs phones) a quick call. Those people can give you an honest answer on wethor it can be fixed or not, because when they tell you yes it can they want to make money lol.
First, if you can view the images, the lcd is not broken. Second, if you get an lcd screen, do you have the technical knowledge and tools to install it?
You may be able to fix it yourself if you can find a replacement screen. I usually search ebay for a broken camera with other problems that I can cannibalize. Here's some examples on LCD replacement. Don't recommend that you try this yourself, unless you have at least some experience with electronics.
Otherwise, the cost of professional repair may be close to or beyond the value of the camera. A better option is to sell the camera on ebay for other repair hobbyists to attempt replacing the screen for themselves. You actually may get a good price for the camera IF it's still capable of taking pictures.
in the box that you got it in there should be a Nikon Insurence this covers you for "1 Year" this may be covered but because its acudental then it may not be, but i would say try ringing nikon on:

Many screen breaks happen to ruin the LCD from visibly displaying a picture. On some cameras, the screen is attached to the back plate of the camera and are very easy to replace with a new one. Some screens are attached to a video pc board and may ruin the board from displaying anything. Your best bet is to have it repaired professionally by one of our top repair providers and get an estimate first. I have repaired many good digital cameras with a LCD replacement, but I also had to purchase a broken used one for parts because new parts became to expensive to repair the one with a broken LCD. BTW: all digital cameras contain many PC boards and if you can still take pictures means the boards that control your lens, motors, CCD, and I/O boards are still intact and functional. Hope this helps - fotobean
THE PROBLEM HERE IS THAT THIS "SCREEN" IS PART OF A UNIT CALLED THE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY OR LCD. BEING THAT, THE "SCREEN" ITSELF CAN NOT BE REPLACED. THE UNIT,LCD, HAS TO BE REPLACED AND FINDING A REPLACEMENT PART IS DIFFICULT AT BEST. MOST PLACES WILL WANT YOU TO SEND THE CAMERA IN FOR REPAIR, WHICH CAN BE BOTH TIME CONSUMING AND SADLY,COSTLY! RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS A REPAIR THAT IS NOT COST EFFECTIVE AND IT IS USUALLY CHEAPER TO REPLACE THE CAMERA. SORRY, BUT I HATE TO SEE YOU GET STUCK WITH A BIG REPAIR BILL. I'M GUESSING THAT THE LCD DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE? IF IT DID AT ALL, I'D SAY USE IT UNTIL YOU CAN SPRING FOR A NEW CAMERA. IT WILL BE CHEAPER IN THE LONG RUN. HOPE THIS HAS HELPED SOME.
