I cant access my account

"Ymail," a division of Yahoo!, is not the same as the Yahoo! email service.
The main different revolves around the URL at the end of your email address.

Instead of "@yahoo.com" these addresses are written as "@ymail.com."
This slight variation might confuse you about how to log into your Ymail account.

The login instructions are similar to that of Yahoo! mail. Additionally, you can recover your ID or password if you have forgotten it.

Visit the Yahoo! login page by typing "ymail.com" into the URL bar.
This takes you to both the Yahoo! email sign in and the Ymail sign in.

Type your username into the "Yahoo! ID" box.
This is the part of your email address that comes before "@ymail.com."

Type in your password.
If your password doesn't work, or you don't remember it, choose the blue "I Can't Access My Account" from the bottom of the sign in box.

Choose the option that describes your situation best. Options include: "I Forgot My Password", "My Password Doesn't Work", "I Forgot My Yahoo! ID" and "My Account May Have Been Compromised". Press "Next."

Follow the on-screen directions to set a new password or recover your ID.

I cannot access my mail

Ymail is part of Yahoo Mail. In order to provide users with more combinations for email addresses, Yahoo introduced another email extension called Ymail. Ymail accounts look like [email protected]. Ymail allows users whose desired email address was already taken to create their desired address and still have all the same features as Yahoo Mail. Accessing a Ymail account is quick and easy and can be done from any web browser.

1. Create a Ymail account, if you don't already have one. Open a browser window and type "http://mail.yahoo.com" and click "Sign Up" under "Don't Have a Yahoo ID?" section.
Fill in the appropriate information in each blank in section 1. This section is for your name, gender, birthday and location.
In section 2, choose a Yahoo ID/email address. In the drop down box beside the email address text box, choose "ymail.com." Press "Check" to see if the email address is available. If it's not available for use, choose another address, but keep the "ymail.com" domain the same.
Choose two security questions in section 3. This are necessary in case you forget your password. The alternate email address is optional.
Type in the security code at the bottom of the screen and press "Create My Account."

2. Open a browser window and type "http://mail.yahoo.com" to access the Ymail login screen.

3.Type your full email address in the "YahooID" box. Be sure to include the "@ymail.com" or the address will not be recognized. Using the full address distinguishes Ymail accounts from Yahoo or Rocketmail accounts.

4. Type your password in the "Password" box. Your password is case sensitive. Press "I Can't Access My Account" if you've forgotten your password. You can either have the password sent to another email address or change it altogether after answering the security questions you set up during the account creation process.

5. Press "Sign In" to access the Ymail account.

My gmail account has been hacked and the guy using it has set up a reply-to using a ymail account that I don't recognize: [email protected]. I tried entering it in your system and it says this ymail...

Hi,

Sorry to hear that.

Go to Mail Settings --> Accounts and Import tab --> Send Mail As

1. In this section you should be able to notice the "[email protected]" being setup as a Reply-to address. Just click on "Edit Info" link besides your email Account. Remove the YMAIL account from the textbox and click on "Next Step". Let "Send through Gmail" remain selected and click on "Save Changes". This should remove the YMAIL address.

AND you should do the following too (if you have not intentionally tweaked with this setting):

In the same "Send Mail As" area, choose - Always reply from default address (currently )

This should solve the Reply-To problem.

However, here are additional suggestions that you should consider implementing after the above -

1. Change your gmail password immediately at https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount

2. Use the Gmail Security Checklist to provide you pointers on what could have gone wrong.

3. If you think that you are an advanced user, consider using the Gmail 2-step-verification for adding additional security to your account. Set up page here: https://www.google.com/accounts/SmsAuthConfig

Hope this was helpful. Pls. vote if it solves your problem.

-best regards,
Mrigs

Problem to add ymail/yahoo account in Thunderbird

If you have a standard Yahoo! account (US), that does not allow direct access from email programs such as Thunderbird. (Yahoo does not provide the standard mail protocols -- POP3, SMTP, IMAP - which are needed.)

Yahoo does offer that access for its premium "Yahoo! Mail Plus" account. There is an annual fee of $19.99 for that service. See details at http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/classic/mailplus/overview/

However, there are some free work-arounds which will allow access to a regular Yahoo Mail account via Thunderbird

(1) WebMail - http://webmail.mozdev.org/
This is a free Thunderbird extension, which provides access to various webmail programs (including Yahoo). You'll need to download and install both the basic extension and the Yahoo plug-in; then follow the instructions to configure them for your Yahoo account. See details at

(2) YPOPs! - http://ypopsemail.com/
This is a POP3 gateway, which allows downloading Yahoo Mail into any standard email client (such as Thunderbird). You'll need to configure both the Yahoo settings in Thunderbird and the YPOPs program, so that they will work together.
See articles at:
http://ypopsemail.com/documentation/37-email-configuration/60-thunderbird
http://opensourcearticles.com/thunderbird_15/english/part_10

Hope that's helpful.
