I have replaced my bulb in the housing and it is a tricky process because there are 3 T10m torq screws on the inside of the housing that have to be removed with a very long T10 tork driver as well as 1 on the outside which holds the 2 plastic covers together. 2 screws are located on the same cover which the bulb is located in and the 3rd screw is located on the plastic which has the ancroring screw in. Be very careful not to touch the bulb with bare hands as this will destroy the life of the bulb (always use gloves when handeling the bulb)

The lamp light is blinking once every 5 seconds. The manual says that " Lamp will not light or light is abnormal"

HI,

Panasonic PT50LC13 lamp indicator blinks to tell you the lamp is faulty.

You need to replace the bulb or TY-LA1000 lamp assembly. This link displays all Panasonic TV Lamps and TV Bulbs. This page shows Panasonic lamp location and How to Replace TYLA1000 bulb. TY-LA1000 Bulb Replacement requires the use of a long Philips Screwdriver to reach screws within the lamp cage.

Unplug AC power before removing the lamp and re-install all doors, etc, correctly before starting the TV. Vacuum any visible dust or lint from air vents and lamp area. Do not used forced air to blow out dust, big problems may result.

The user's manual has a description of what the Blinking LED indicators mean.

I am changing bulb # TY-LA1001-K on a panasonic dlp tv mod.# PT-52LCX66-K . bulb is easy to change but lens in housing is burnt . can it be removed from housing & cleaned with anything ?.

Very carefully remove the lens, ensuring you put it back in exactly the same place and way around!
Clean it with isopropol alcohol and a tooth brush, let it soak if needed.
BE CAREFUL!!!
Re fit it as that forms part of the heat shield.

From the info you gave, it does sound like the lamp is bad. The sound you hear is the ballast trying to ignite what used to be a lamp. The lamp is assessable throught a 6x6 cover usually in the rear of the set held on by usually two screws. After the cover is off ( with a flashlight ) locate the screws(2) that hold the lamp housing in, remove those and it should slide out. Make sure you unplug the set first and remember to reset the lamp timer witch is located in your owners booklet after your done with the set on.
