if its only a new machine make sure transport bolts have been removed

If the machine loads ups with water and does not stop then the water level sensor is fautly . But if the inlet valve stops on fill up but there is no spin of the motor or thereafter there is no spin/rinse or drain then the program controller / drain valve/pump must be checked.

If it doesnt wash either, the brushes will possibly be the problem. You need to remove them and check the length.

check the water controle inlet valves that are attached to the machine for proper operation and replace if found bad

what make and model is it and which lights were flashing

I WOULD CHECK THE FLYWHEEL THAN LISTEN FOR SOUND OF THE MOTOR IF YOU HEAR IT SPINING THAN IT IS POSSIBLE THE SHAFT IS BROKEN OR SEIZE
