Ok...run a really small load with no detergent, on rinse cycle only..

do that 3 to 4 times, until that suds message goes away.

I have a Westinghouse LT8195 washing machine, error code is coming up SP ? Do know what this is ? Please help

I think you may have used the wrong kind of detergent or too much.your washer is most likely over SUDs.If you don't use he High Efficiency detergent this will happen. There is a he swirl on the container.shut down you washer for a half hour let it settle. Clear the drain as best you can from suds. if your model has a no spin or low spin use your rinse cycle.you may have to do this again if suds are to thick. Westinghouse has an SD code for SUDs. If you have an owner manual check it.continue to wash normally

Maytag 3000 washer has error message SUD. What is this and how do I fix it. It occurs in the spin cycle every time I wash. I am using Tide HE detergent. It even does it when I use Zero detergent.

The SUD message usually indicates that the sensor detected excess suds and shut down the washer until the suds subsided. To my knowledge, Zero isn't an HE approved detergent so the amount you use has to be really tiny to avoid the SUD error.

With the Tide HE, you still may be using too much detergent. However, you should check the drain pump and outlet hoses. Sometimes a slow or blocked drain can trigger the error. There is often a filter at the drain to keep foreign objects that were left in the clothes from damaging the pump. Make sure that nothing is in this "coin trap". Have a bucket ready when you take apart the drain to catch the water left in the washer. The pump is accessed through the back panel. (Some front-loaders actually have an access panel so you don't have to remove the entire back.)

If you see excessive suds during the wash cycle, run the washer through a complete cycle while it's empty without using any detergent. This often will rinse out any detergent that may have been left from previous loads.

I hope this helps.

I'm getting an 5ud and don't know what that means?

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.SUD means suds as in soap suds. Are you using too much soap? Are you using high efficiency detergent? If your using the correct detergent and not using too much,Only fill to bottom line on cap and still getting sud error then you may have a failed pressure switch.
Thank You and please rate my answer if it was helpful..

Message appears on washer 5d?

Your washer is actually displaying "Sd". This is a Suds Detect error code. The washer will not complete any cycle as long as the error code is present. The following link explains the error and some potential causes:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608687-sud_error

The number one cause of the error comes from using too much, or the wrong type, of detergent. You are required to use High Efficiency (HE) detergent with these washers because the concentration is formulated for HE washers that use small amounts of water. If using regular detergent, you are effectively placing 5 to 7 times the concentration required in the washer which causes excessive suds and can possibly damage the pump and seals. Using the wrong type of detergent can also void any manufacturer warranty you may have.

NOTE: HE detergent does not have a lot of suds, which often confuses consumers into thinking they aren't using enough detergent. With HE washers little to no suds is NORMAL and preferred.

If you use too much detergent, using the RINSE/SPIN option is recommended to flush the tub, drain pump and lines. IMPORTANT: It can sometimes take SEVERAL cycles to clear. Also, leaving the door open for a while can allow air into a suds filled drum to get rid of some of the bubbles.

Secondary causes can come from something restricting the drainage system. Most notably, something lodged in the drain pump and/or drain hose(s). I've included a follow-on link that explains how to check the drain pump reservior if required.

Each one of these washers come with a technical data sheet inside.

To access, you will need to remove the lower toe panel under the door. The access screws are located under the bottom front edge of the panel. You may have to prop the two front feet of the washer up for better access ( a 2x4 works well for this). With the screws removed, the panel should drop down, then come off. If the tech sheet isn't directly behind the panel, it will be affixed to one of the interior cabinet walls.

The tech sheet lists all error code definitions, troubleshooting data, diagnostics procedures and wiring diagrams. I mention the tech sheet because you may need it from time to time to troubleshoot your washer.

Read through the information provided and let me know if you have any further questions. I hope this can help you.

Can you use regulure detergent instead of the HD kind? The type of maytags I purchased are MEDE500VW and MHWE450WW washer

High Efficiency detergent is strongly recommended for front-load washers. This detergent is a "low sudsing" detergent as opposed to the regular detergent. If you use regular detergent is a front-load unit, you may have issues down the road!
