First have the machine in 2005, works well. But hv not used it for 1 year, now can not receive fax, but can send out fine. Your error 43 refers to the fact that the fax you are calling does not answer. Talk to them and ask if their fax is set to "Auto Receive". its probably not.
check to see if your phone line is plugged in the " L" or line slot on your fax machine if it is then press the speaker or monitor key and listen for dial tone. then you put a document into the feeder and dial your cell phone number and press send, when your cell phone rings answer and listen if you are getting a high pitched squeel. if you are then it should be working. try it the other way too by dialing from your cell and listen again for the squeel. if you still don't get the squeel you have a defective modem.
