My MW2 just got disk burned (laser burn) am i able to fix this for a lower amount of money than going out to my local game store and asking them to fix it. The closest game stores are GAME, EB games and game traders and will they be able to fix it either??
Laser burn, looks like complete or partial circular scratches around your disc, also known as “the ring of death”. This occurs to discs when the games console has been moved whilst playing, from an upright to a horizontal position or vice versa or simply knocked against or the wires may have been just tripped upon. Discs are then impaired by a ring of laser burn, which is a circular scratch into the disc. Some home remedies may help with only very light scratches on some discs but professional disc repair services is usually rerquired to restore disc laser burn damage back to "As Good As New Condition".

Laser burn is particularly nasty so common household disc cleaners won't do the job. GAME stores usually have an industrial strength disk cleaner which only costs £3 to repair discs. There is no guarantee any amount of disc repair will work, as laser burn can be fatal on discs, but this is your best bet. To avoid laser burn, lay your console flat (not standing up) and make sure its on a level and sturdy surface. Any vibration through the console can cause the laser to over-focus, and then you'll get burn.
See if you can find this in a local store or online, as long as the ring isnt too deep it does a pretty good job. I have repaired 80% of disc rings with this and highly recommend giving it a try if you can source some.
Hope this helps.
Neil.
