Search for 'GO VIDEO VR-FA2 DVD VCR Remote Control' for 97P04858 DV1030 DV1030A DV1040 DV2150in Google, Ebay, etc. Your other option is to buy a universal remote control, and program it for your DV1040. Make sure it works with it before you buy

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest buying a 'universal' remote control that you can program all your equipment into.

you can only use the original remote control that goes with that Go Video unit. because its a DVD/VCR combo remote there are no universals that will program to work it.

First, without knowing what universal remote control you have, I can't really provide you with a list of remote codes that might work. A brand and model number (usually found on the remote), would be helpful.

Short of that, there is a likely solution. If you refer back to the users manual for your remote, there will be a "scroll" feature that allows you to enter the codes, one by one, and see which one works. Most remotes have numbers that start with 001 and go up through 300 or 400, so it can be a little tedious, but it should work. It procedure is a little different, but basically you get into the setup or learn section of the remote, enter the code, the press the power button and see if it powers up your device. If it does, then your done! On average, I'd say this process takes 10 minutes or so.

You'll have to make an account at this site in order to download the manuals, but it is a free process and they have lots of manuals there. BTW, I tried to access this manual directly from GoVideo, but I had no luck getting their site up, assuming that it still works.

no you must purchase a universal remote to be able to do that

I have a universal remote from ComCast cabel and was able to get code 0591 to work for the Go Video DV2140. It's one of the same codes as the Zenith DVD player.
