My Tv has sound but no picture. It is 12 years old. Right before this happened, the sound would go off while watching, and you would hav to turn the TV off and back on to get sound again.

Is it only the input that has the direct tv connected to it that has no
picture, or do you have no picture at all on any inputs? If you are
able to watch a dvd on say AV1 or input 1 but have no picture on the
other input that has the direct tv box connected to it I would call
direct tv and have them look at your box. If you have no picture at all
then it is your tv. and it being 10 years old it is almost a natural
failure a strange occurrence that being it happen right after you got satellite.
I have a sansui 19" LCD TV+DVD I had to attempt multiple times turning the TV on to get a picture. The sound was fine. This kept happening when I would go to turn on the set the TV kept playing fine with picture & sound but after the 2nd attemts I turned it off & then tried to turn it back on which took multiple attempts, it kept playing for a few minutes then the picture went out but the sound was still there. The set is not yet 2 years old.
