It is because of the laptop overheating problem. This is a very common problem with and could be easily fixed if you clean the heat sink. If the CPU heatsink is not clogged with dust and lint completely, you can use canned air and just blow it inside the laptop through the openings on the bottom and on the sides. It’s nice as a precaution measure, but it might not work if your laptop already has a problem and the heatsink is completely clogged.

  1. Open the laptop case, so you can access the CPU fan and the heatsink. In some cases you can access the heatsink through the latch on the bottom of the laptop. Sometimes (for example Toshiba Satellite A70/A75) you have to open the laptop case all the way down.
  2. Carefully disconnect the fan cables on the system board and remove the fan. If the fan makes unusual sound when it spins (grinding sound), I would recommend to replace the fan.
  3. Clean the fan and the heatsink with compressed air.
  4. I would also recommend removing old thermal grease from the CPU and applying new grease for better heat conductivity.

My computer keeps shuting windows down

Hi
Shutting down like this is usually one of two things - a hardware fauld which needs to be tracked down and corrected - or a system/driver fault. The latter usually requires reverting to a restore point before the problem started, or re-installing the drivers or updated drivers. Without a lot more information on your system, and when this usually happens, it is impossible to be more specific.

Computer keeps shuting down for days at a time

Needs servicing. Sounds like a bad motherboard or corrupt drive, what are the error messages besides the obvious fan malfunction?

Laptop keeps shuting down at random.

This could be caused by MANY different things. If it is a random thing, where do you have your laptop when it happens? If it isn't on a flat smooth surface, it's probably a heat related issue. Laptops need a lot of air circulaton, through the bottom.
