I have a sony KF-42WE610. When I go to power it

I have a sony KF-42WE610. When I go to power it on the green power/standby light flashes 3 times then goes to 6 red flashes and pauses and repeats the 6 red flashes. What does this mean. The tv won't turn on.

More than likely it is the G1 board or Thermal Fuse. I replace the thermal fuse and it is still giving me the 6 blinking red lights. Thermal fuse is $40 and cheapest G1 board I have found on-line is $120. I am about to pull the trigger on the G1 board and give it a shot.

Replacing the thermal fuse is a little tricky. You don't actually remove the old one, instead install a new one below the lamp. In order to run the wires you need to remove the back panel and a fan. I actually had to remove the optical block as well. Part number is Sony A-1137-954-A Service Kit(We) and replaces a metal "bracket" under the lamp. PLEASE NOTE that this fix DID NOT work in my case.

I received a replacement G1 board yesterday, unfortunately it did not work either. I received the same 6 blinking red light code. It was a refurbished board. The company I ordered it from is sending me another one to try. If it doesn't work then I am going to have to dig a little deeper into researching the issue. Should have the other board in 3-4 days.

Make sure all of your connections are plugged in. I bought a kf-42we610 that had a bad optical block just for the lamp for another tv I was fixing. Just now I was making sure that all of the boards for the tv are in good working order and in doing so I missed one or two connections on the right side which caused the code 6 error. I believe one of them was the lamp fan.

Sony LCD Model KF-60WE610 lamp was replaced and then it shortly after stopped turning on. Blinks Green 6 times then Red 6 times Please help!

For Sony Model KF-60WE610, KF-50WE610, and KF-42WE610, the Diagnostic Code of power light indicator flashing 6 times green, then flashing 6 times red (6 red etc), means you need to replace part number A-1302-272A G1 BOARD, COMPLETE. See Sony Service Manual, 4. Chasis-1 at part Ref no. 103. The Power Board sits vertically in two slots on the left side of the electronics board. 4 wire connectors to remove when replacing. This component fits all 3 KF models listed above.

Sony kf-60we610 stand by blinks 5 times

Hey there,
I've had my Sony KF-50WE610 for approx. 4years now and have just experienced the prob you described (though I didn't think to count the number of red blinks). I called Sony TV technical support (888-772-7669, #3 for TV/digital cameras, #1 for TV, then #1 again I think). They said that if the power/standby light blinks 5x, that means there's something wrong with the lamp driver and service will be required. Needless to say, I better go home and count my red blinks! Good luck, I hope this helps a bit. Have a happy and safe holiday!

KF-42WE610

This sounds like an issue with the optical block assembly. Sony had a problem with this part in a lot of the KF-series television.

They extended the warranty of optical blocks in the KF-42WE620, which doesn't help you but from what your saying this sounds like the issue.

KF 42WE610 turns on for two seconds, then goes black

no, had the same problem. Its the lamp ballast also called the lamp power block. It supplies power to the lamp, any how some repair shop wanted $450 to fix it, so i ordered the part from sony, part #146879816 ($116.25), trust me this is the part I double checked with many different places. Any how fixed it my self took about 15 minutes, just take the back cover off and the part is right there just kind of follow the screws and the 3 wires, super easy job, I suggest you replace the bulb at the same time, dont by a cheap bulb just get it from sony
