Candlelig840, Your "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp" back-lit lcd monitor may not be in sleep-mode!! However, it may be in "black screen" or "Blank n Black screen" mode. Spend an hour doing some reading in my fixya profile and read testimonials and follow the web links. Your monitor isn't any different than any other brand in it's basic design and operation!!! Again, read my and other LCD monitor tech's ("budmrtn" , "buddymc" ) for information on doing your own repair or to find out all your options you have when dealing with CCFL back-lit LCD panel that is now black and lifeless!! If you live in or near a large (>2 million) city, give a call to local TV/lcd repair shop and question them about black screen and what is the top cause of lcd monitor/ lcd tv black screen failures. If you need further assistance after you research your monitor's problem do another comment here on fixya and we will be glad to help you. Do not rate this response. If you do, you will break the link and not have option to do further comments back to this posting. 12fixlouie
Your computer monitor or laptop screen will enter sleep mode after your computer remains idle for a set period of time. You can disable sleep mode if you prefer the screen to remain illuminated. You merely need to change a setting in the Windows Power Management properties box.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
Click "Start" and "Control Panel".
Click "System and Security" and "Power Options". This will bring up a new dialog box.
Click the menus to the right of "Turn off the Display" and set them both to "Never". This will disable sleep mode.
