Leave the factory jumper between R & RC. Connect the wires to the new stat just as you have them labeled. Use a piece of thermostat wire to make a jumper from AUX to E terminals. Your new thermostat should give you instructions on how to access the installer set up. You are going to set it up as heat pump with aux. I see this is 2 days old but if you need any help let me know.
Your original wiring configuration seems to indicate that you have an air conditioner (not heat pump) and either a gas or electric furnace. If this is the case you may need a different thermostat for your application.
Hello You have only 5 wires? multi stage if so ,is run by something else.Check that RH/RC is jumped out on new stat. Also check that O is not on the B terminal. If there is an A/B select switch set it to O.Emergency heat button dont matter as there is no wire to run it with only 5 wires.
sounds like you have a heat pump the w2 on old thermostat is for a second stage heat. If you can give me a little more information on type of system you have (forced air furnace with heat/cool, Heat pump or boiler)? How many wires are on old thermostat? Is it a no programmable or programmable? How old is the furnace?
Sounds like you have a problem with your heat pump. Your aux heat is a electric coil. how old is the unit when was the last time it was serviced? How cold is it out side?
You have a heat pump. You need a thermostat for "Heat pump with Electric back-up heat". Make sure the 'stat has either an "aux" (auxilliary heat) or an "E"(Emergency heat) terminal. The wiring instructions will be provided with the thermostat.
Don't assume the wires at the thermistate are correct.
I had similar and had to go all the way back to the heat/AC controller board. I found the colors weren't attached per spec so was fighting the origional installation at the new thermistat.
