I have a 1995 Polaris indy 500 efi. This machine has always been a good starter. It still starts good, but after 5-10 minutes of riding it dies and it won't start after that. I changed all the fuel line and clamps, I can hear that the fuel pump is running and I changed the fuel filter, fuel tank is clean. If you have another suggestion I would appreciate it. Thank you Marc

Have you checked the fuel lines in the gas tank? Sometimes if the pickup line gets cracked it will **** air and no gas. give this a try. Good luck let me know.

SOURCE: I have a 97 polaris indy 500 snowmobile. The spark

Wait, it just wont turn over, like the engine won't rotate?, that is either a broken crank, which not unusual for those 500's or you seized it, (welded the piston to the jugs). if this isn't what you mean, and it will turn over but not on its own power, then either your jets in the carbs are clogged, fuel may get to it, but not through it, or your rings are stuck closed and giving you low compression, check this by pulling it over slowly, you should feel each piston completing the revolution with a prominent glug glug. grab your primary clutch and rotate it back and forth, it should have a bit of play, but if it clanks and has alot of play, your crank is busted

SOUNDS LIKE THE ENGINE IS BADLY FLOODED, SHUT YOUR GASS OFF AND REMOVE THE PLUGS, THAN PULL IT OVER UNTIL IT IS UNFLOODED. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE NEEDLES ARE STUCK IN YOUR CARBS

Polaris snowmobile 500 efi indy

Ok I thinking with the info you posted I have a small thing you can check on the wiring harness by the pull start (recoil) side of the engine there will be a small black box this is a relay (Bosch 30/40) go to any parts store and purchase one cost is from 4.00 to 10.00 and replace it what I think is happening is when you try to rev up the machine it's breaking contact of this relay I hope this helps do not get rid of this machine I'm sure it's a simple fix also check for fouled spark plug this can cause similar issues I hope this help

I tried starting my 89 Polaris Indy 500 it's

worn out engine, not creating enough suction. Does it run fine once warmed up? Mine does, but getting it started that first time is a real problem. I'm looking at a rebuild and I don't think it's worth it. Might be time to retire the ole girl.

My 2005 Polaris 500 H.O. will not power up. The batery is good, there is just nothing when I turn the key. I don't even know where to start looking! Please help, I need my machine! Thanks. Steve

Its probably the electronic control module. Try leaving the key on for a while, if you do start to get something and it comes and goes, its the ECM. I had the same problem with my 07 EFI 500.

First off, you need to put this under a different product.

For another, check the battery before you ask dumb questions!

Most efi sleds use a battery. Check it.
