Fuji Finepix Z1 Zoom Error

I have a Fuji Finepix Z1 camera and recently when I switched on the camera it displayed a Zoom Error. I can't work out what happened to it. Any idea what I can do to fix the problem.

I've had this problem on and off for the last year or so. Sometimes, when I play around with the buttons, especially the flash button, it'll make the zoom error problem disappear, and I'll be able to take pictures for a short moment, and the quality of the pictures won't be affected. It is annoying though.

I have the same problem, with it saying Zoom error every time I turn on the camera. I tried the solution offered here, by holding down the trigger button and sliding it open. it didn't work the first time, but worked the second time I repeated the process. Hope it keeps working! Thank you

I saw another post in this forum were someone suggest banging it on a table a couple times, not to hard that you'd dent it but a good enough bang. Worked like a charm! I tried the trigger and slide method but while the error message went away the zoom wouldn't focus. Try banging it, it sounds bad but it worked wonders!

Il metodo dei due colpetti decisi sul tavolo ha funzionato per eliminare lo zoom error! Grande grazie a tutti!!!

I tried holding down the "take picture button," and it did not work for me, but banging the camera worked like a charm, and was also cathartic.

I had the same problem with a zoom error message on a Finepix Z1.
I have just tried the bang it on a table solution and it works! Well, actually, I banged it onto a soft book. Thanks!

Since an encounter with my 2 year old my finepix Z1 camera has had the Zoom Error message on it, glad I found this site before deciding to get a new one or paying someone loads of money to fix it. Following the above advice - about half a dozen good bangs on the table actually did the trick. Thanks very much indeed

Hey
i had the same problem with my z1 camera aswell
and it got really frustrating so i tried different things, like turning it off and on again, taking the battery out etc

but i think ive found the solution to this problem,
when you turn it on you get the zoom error grrr
what i did was open the slide and as the camera is turning on hold down the 'take picture' button at the top and the camera is like normal

it worked for me anyway
hope it works

I have had my camera for a couple of years now and came across the zoom error problem a couple of months ago. Also the lense wouldnt go back in. After reading it on here my husband gave the back and front of the camera a few good blasts with the air from his divers bottle and now the camera works perfectley.

Fix zoom error

The lens probably has some dirt or pocket fuzz caught in it. Try spraying around it with a can of compressed air when it is extended. Also spray the lens.

Zoom error

If you are in a mode such as macro of some other modes then the camera is unable to focus when the telephoto lense is extended past a certan point, mine has never told me in that way, but I am sure that that is the problem, just zoom out to the widest angle possible then in photoshop you can crop the image later.

Fuji FinePix S700 Problem

Try to put it on super macro and see if this will reset the zoom function.
Also try to switch between the settings that allow the digital zoom, as compaired to those settings that only allow optical zoom.
If these do not work, you may have a lens that has been dropped, or is stuck, and may need to be serviced. I have the S700, and have never seen this error before> good luck.

Finepix A400

If the "!ZOOM ERROR" message is displayed on the digital camera, switch the camera off and on again 2 or 3 times.
If this does not clear the error, take the camera to your nearest FUJIFILM Service Station for testing and repairs. Problem may caused by lens zooming gears stuck.

I had the same problem and finally had the time to look at it. I was reading some other posts, when I read try the telephone trick. Leave the camera closed and kinda slam it on a hard surface. I slid the shutter open and focused and it took a pic with no problem!!!

ZOOM ERROR

I assume you have tried removing the battery and re-inserting. If this didn't work, I suggest you give the camera a firm knock a couple of times against a hard surface such as a desk. Obviously I don't mean anything that would dent the desk or damage the camera. This worked for me with exactly the same message on a Z2.

Write error

Hi, Sounds like a memory problem. You can try using the built-in menu utility function of formatting the memory (be it internal or external memory). Of course this will also delete all current files/photos in it. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turn up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
