I just got the Samsung less than 2 weeks ago, and I feel like I am having to constantly charge it. It seems like the battery will be full, but in just a couple of hours it is back down to 1 or 2 bars showing. It hasn't been anywhere near moisture of any kind, and it was bought brand new from a Verizon store. Any ideas as to why it is not holding a charge?
Hi try this I had a new Blackberry which required charging every single day, take out battery and press and hold the on button on the phone for a min, then put battery back in and try charging again! mine is perfect now again.
Somebody told me that it's to do with static or something that builds up and flattens the batt.
I also have the Samsung SCH u340, and it was not holding a charge. I followed the manufacturers instructions regarding a complete charge before using it, but it still wasn't functioning properly. I would charge it full up before I went to bed, unplug it from the charger and it would be dead the next morning even though I didn't make a single call.
I took it to the Verizon store and they gave me a new phone and battery straight out of the box. I took that back a week later because it was doing the same thing. The gave me a reconditioned phone and kept the same battery, still did the same thing. They gave me a new charger, still did the same thing. I finally convinced them that there was a problem with the model since this is the sixth Verizon cell phone I have had, and the first that I have had any kind of problem like this. Now they are sending me a Verizon Coupe at no charge. We'll see how that works, hopefully no further problems.
Tip for anyone dealing with Verizon: deal with them online or over the phone, they are much more helpful than the Verizon stores. The store was unwilling to let me switch models.
First of all most cell phones when you buy them have to be charged for anywhere from 2 to 12 hours. If you did not follow manufacture instructions the battery retained what is called memory, which means how ever much of a charge it got is what it is considering to be full. The same goes for regular use charging, you must get the battery down to where the phone warns you of a low battery before charging. If your phone is under warranty take it to verizon and explain to them that the battery is new with the phone and not holding a charge.

Same problem with SCH U340 battery holding charge. Took back to Verizon w/i 30 days of receipt. Got new battery at no charge. It's now one (1) year with phone and charge problem never solved. Can't wait to get a new LG cell phone in six months.
