Keyboard light & toolbar problems

1. how to enable the backlight on my benQ joybook s52 notebook?
2. at the bottom right corner of toolbar on my laptop showing:
7:47 AM
Saturday
that makes my toolbar looks ugly (something like double lined) & all the icons look bigger! How do I make it looks normal again?
(with just time showing 7:47 AM, without the day of the week)

    1. joybook s52 certainly has backlight on its keyboard. it was there a month ago then it's gone. probably something was pressed so that's why it's not there anymore. question is, how to bring it back? anybody with solution!

    2. how do you delete the day of the week on the time/date at the bottom right corner of your screen? simply put, just shows the hour&minute, thats all!

Hello...please refer to your user manual ...to see if backlit is availible on your model...and to your operativesystem manual for any software adjustments..take some time to study..it will be worth it.....good luck ...Ron

I don't know anything about a backlight but if you are talking about icons on desktop go to display settings and play around with the size until you like it.

Unfortunately, I don't find any mention of that model laptop having an illuminated keyboard. If this isn't what you are referring to, please let me know.

To fix your taskbar:

  1. Right click on any blank portion of the taskbar.
  2. Make sure the "Lock the taskbar" is unchecked.
  3. Put your cursor at the top edge of the taskbar. The cursor should turn into a double-headed arrow.
  4. Click and drag the top edge of the taskbar down to about half it's original height.
  5. Right click on the taskbar and click "Lock the taskbar" to lock it in place.

I think you'll find that the NumLock was left on when you disconnected the external keyboard, and numbers (shown on the laptop keys in blue on the right side of the keyboard) are in use instead of the normal characters. Just press the NumLock key, usually near the top right of the keyboard.

My Wifi is not working. My laptop sound is scratchy. I want to upgrade my processor from celeron to core 2 duo which one i should select for cpu upgrade?
Two main things to know before you can attempt a Processor upgrade.

1) What Processor socket is on the motherboard?

2) What motherboard chipset is on the motherboard?
(Northbridge and Southbridge chip. Unless it's a motherboard that supports Intel Core 13, Core i5, Core i7, and Core i9 processors)

My touchpad is scrolling but not clicking how can i fix it?
IF you have restarted the pc , try to disable/enable the touchpad by clicking start > right click my computer and then click properties > then click hardware and then click device manager. Then under mice and pointing devices right click the device and click disable. Then enable it again. If it did not work, call Benq for further assistance..

I lost the bios password for my Benq joybook 5000.
For that you need to reset factory defaults settings for bios.
For reset bios u have to open back side of your laptop then u find motherbord circuit there.
pull cmos cell on motherbord for 15 minute then it reset to defaults.
Also u can reset with jumper settigns read carefully on mother bord there is 1 jumper near cmos cell u read there " bios reset or clear"
It is on 1-2 position right now set it in 2-3 position then power up then all bios settings are reset.
then again set it in 1-2 its original position.
Then it not want password.

Touch pad scrolling not working
Try looking for an icon on your numbered function keys (F keys) (mine is on F6 on Benq S52) that activates a touchpad on/off when you hit the key while pressing the Fn key (it's likely near the Ctrl and Alt keys).

Onscreen volume display not showing up naymore
Try this out:

Click the Start button on Windows Taskbar located at the bottom
side of the screen and then select Programs, Hot Key Manager,
Configuration from the menus that appear.

To enable onscreen volume control message,
check the Show volume controls onscreen checkbox.

This is the recipe for the 2000-model, but I believe it should be the same for the 5000.
