Games for my PS3 will only play when i first switch my console on
My PS3 wont read the disc if i eject the disc and insert a new game into my console.i have to insert the disc then switch of my machine for approx 30\60 minsiit always reads dvds only has problem reading games that arent installed on my harddrive. it a old phat PS3

have the sony turned off then before turning it on place your finger over the eject button then turn the console on with your finger still in place this is the eject override method it should spit out your disc if not u may have other hardware issues
Short answer its a ..... to fix. Theres multiple lasers in the disc drive that actually read the disc. The blue laser failed. Replacing the drive wont work unless you can reprogram the eeprom chip (or is it nand?) At any rate its just better to upgrade to a new console.
