There should be settings in the touch pad software on your machine or in the task bar that you can directly access to change all manner of personal idiosyncrasies related to HID. (Human interface device) Try also going into the control panel and looking for input devices, mouse, touchpad and adjusting the settings from within there.

Please help. My touch pad has gone out of control. I have Toshiba Satellite A205. each time I tried using the touch pad to navigate, my cursor jumps uncontrollably. Presently, I cant use the touch pad to do anything on my laptop. What can I do please?

I fixed my sensitivity problem by going to the pen and touch settings and disabling everything.
It seems to me that both pen and touch and my ELAN drivers were moving the mouse at the same time, and both had special gestures defined as well.

It should be configurable in the control panel under the mouse icon. Go to the "pointer options" tab and use the slider to decrease the pointer speed. You could also try un ticking the "enhance pointer precision" box as sometimes this can mess things up.

My touch pad selects everything and clicks anything i scroll over. Not sure whats going on, it is a new laptop....
