Toshiba Satellite a135 s7406. interuption with music, streaming video or dvd
Recently bought a two month old Toshiba laptop and it won't let me play dvds saying i need to install a compatible dvd decoder for windows media player. It came with vista basic, but i put xp on it. Also with any streaming video from the web, or even when playing cds i get this quick buzz interruption every 5-8 seconds. Any suggestions on where to start? I would really appreciate your help? Thanks.
PS: if i need to get an mpeg-2 decoder, which do you suggest. Does a decoder come with xp, service pack 3? Thanks.

Turn off your Toshiba Satellite, turn it over and remove the battery from its compartment on the bottom of the computer.
2
Locate the rectangular hard drive cover in the corner of the computer and use your Phillips head screwdriver remove the single screw holding it in place. A metal tab will now be exposed in the hard drive compartment.
3
Locate the single screw just below the hard drive compartment and remove it. This is the screw that holds the CD drive in place.
4
Use the tip of your screwdriver to push the metal tab in the hard drive compartment in as far as it will go. The CD drive will then pop slightly out of the side of the computer.
5
Grip the drive at its end and gently slide it out of the computer. You are now free to replace the CD drive if necessary
First try to reset bios by make short in cmos battery. If it doesnt work turn it off then remove battery, connect adopter power then turn it on, also if doest work press number one hold then turn it on.
take the laptop to best buy and have them reinstall the bois for the dvd drive. i had it happen on mine and they fixed it in 30 seconds and didnt charge me a dime. hope this helps.
It may not be a video driver problem but rather the software that you are using to watch the DVD. Are you using windows media player and if so what version. Ver. 11 is the latest. Before installing any more drivers. download Power DVD trial version and see if you can play the DVD with it. If you can, your drivers are OK. Come back when you have done this and let me know how you get on.
Try cleaning the lense / As well install correct driver also; If nothing works out best alternative is to replace the CD/DVD rom with new or working once.
