You may not need to reset from the service menu. Try holding down the EXIT button on the remote until you get a prompt asking for the OK to reset to the default settings.

Why can't I adjust my color on Samsung Tv. I go into the menu and go to picture but it won't let me move up or down on the settings.

Do a hard reset to this set, and check thereafter. There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

I have a 2009 Samsung LCD tv that has worked fine for years. I'm not sure if holiday tenants have played with settings, but now the volume when set to TV is way too low and hard to hear even on Ma

It sounds that somebody have entered into its service menu options, and changed the data values to audio settings there. You must get into its service menu again and must adjust these data values to its original factory settings. you needn't open the set, but the work is somewhat skilled one.
If you wish to get more details about how to its service mode, and make it to factory reset, check this link. Details are there. Be sure that you can do the adjustments, before adjusting any data values there. Do not tamper with it. If you're not sure, seek help of any experienced service technician.

How to reset eeprom(service menu settings)

This is the reason I am careful about walking people into the tech menu on sets--one wrong move and poof!

If you by a miracle find the full service manual it would have the information needed (if set has this) for a hard reset---other wise you would have to try to with the manual reset every setting to factory one at a time...........

We have gone to Step 3 and hit Cable but we should have skipped it. Now we have No Signal and cannot go beyond Step 5. It says No Signal. Please advise. Thank you,

Hello, try resetting back to factory default. If it asks for a code its usually 0000. You can acess this through menu. After that try auto tuning and that should work. If all else fails switch it off at the point and leave it off for a minute and switch it on and see if that resets it.

Vchip block just popped up on screen and we dont have the passcode to fix it;is there a factory reset?

Hello
To get into the fatory setup, there is a metod for Samsung TVs. You just follo these steps, and will reach there. OK

[1] Turn the Power Off.
[2] On the remote control press "MENU" followed by 1,8,2 and "Power" in sequence.
[3] You should no see the service menu. To exit the service menu always select "RESET".

The service menu will guide you to the factory defaults. Note that upon entering the service menu, all user menu settings will revert to Factory Defaults.

If you do not have its remote control, the you will probably have to contact Samsung Electronics division in your country.

Have to reset or it is reset to factory settings?

Has anyone been playing with this TV, i.e. repairing it, replacing boards etc?

I believe - do not know it for a fact - that Samsung has this protection in palce which identifies the boards in a TV and once you switch a board the TV needs to go through a service re-administration to remember its current configuration.

There's no explanation of why would a TV need to do that other than to restrict users to Samsung service centers only.

Again I do not know this for a fact, but I have seen other Samsung TVs that do exactly the same and they start doing it upon replacing boards on them. It's a simple logic.
